We were lucky to catch up with Bruna Bertossi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Bruna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
One of my biggest risks was leaving my familiar life in São Paulo to volunteer in Angola. At the time, I was driven by a deep desire to make a difference, especially in the lives of children battling cancer. It was a leap into the unknown—I didn’t know anyone there and wasn’t sure how I’d be received.
In Angola, I worked to bring joy and comfort to the children through creative storytelling, often using my character, Katita Esvairovisk, to spark laughter and lightheartedness in their challenging journeys. The risk paid off in ways I could never have imagined. Not only did I see smiles on the faces of children facing immense adversity, but I also grew as a person, learning resilience, adaptability, and the true power of human connection.
This experience has continued to influence my professional and personal choices, from moving to the United States in 2020 to pursue new opportunities to dedicating my creative work to causes that align with my values. The lesson I’ve learned is that risks, though daunting, can lead to profound growth and transformation.
Another significant risk I took was accepting that I am a songwriter. For many years, I wrote poems and lyrics but was afraid to embrace this part of myself fully. I doubted whether I could truly call myself a songwriter or if my work was worth sharing.
In 2024, I finally decided to face that fear. I embraced my identity as a songwriter and took the bold step of transforming the poems I had written throughout my life into songs. It was a deeply personal and vulnerable process, but also incredibly liberating.
Taking this risk has opened up a whole new world of creative expression for me. It reminded me of the power of authenticity, of owning who you are and letting your voice be heard. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it, and I am excited to see where this journey as a songwriter will lead me next.
Bruna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a multi-faceted artist with a Master’s degree in Performance Arts, earned in São Paulo, Brazil. My academic foundation, combined with years of hands-on experience, has shaped my artistic vision and given me the tools to bring my ideas to life. From acting to songwriting, my work is rooted in a deep passion for storytelling and a commitment to inspiring others.
I am a dedicated and professional actress. Despite the challenges of this artistic life—which is far from easy—it requires immense resilience. I have learned to persevere through obstacles and turn those experiences into fuel for my creativity and growth.
My journey began in São Paulo, where I developed a profound love for creative expression. Over the years, I have explored many forms of art—writing poems, creating compelling characters, and volunteering to bring hope to others, such as my transformative work with children in Angola. These experiences have taught me the power of art to heal, connect, and inspire change.
One of the defining moments of my career was creating my character, Katita Esvairovisk. Katita allowed me to connect with audiences on a deeper level by combining humor with meaningful storytelling. She has become a symbol of joy and resilience, reflecting my personal mission to make the world a brighter place, even in the face of adversity.
In November 2024, I took a significant step as a songwriter by releasing my song, Oxigênio para a Alma (Oxygen for the Soul). This song is deeply personal and represents my lifelong journey of transforming emotions and experiences into art that touches the heart. Sharing this work with the world has been both empowering and fulfilling, as it reflects my authenticity and love for music.
I am most proud of the impact my work has on others. Whether it’s through bringing smiles to children, creating relatable characters, or writing songs that touch people’s hearts, my goal has always been to inspire and connect. Moving to the United States in 2020 was a bold step that expanded my horizons and allowed me to pursue these dreams on an international scale.
My mission is clear: to use my art as a vehicle for kindness, empowerment, and human spiritual connection. I want my followers, clients, and supporters to know that my work comes from a place of authenticity, resilience, and a desire to make the world a little better through creativity.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2021, I founded BBArt Productions, a creative production company based in Los Angeles, CA. Our mission is to take projects from concept to final execution, offering comprehensive services that bring ideas to life. Launching this business was a significant pivot in my career, allowing me to channel my creativity into producing impactful content.
Currently, I am seeking investors to expand BBArt Productions into both the American and Brazilian markets. Additionally, I am in the pitch process for my next film, SicAtriz (Scars), which reflects the idea that every project comes with challenges, pushing me to strive for something greater each time.
This journey is fueled by resilience and the drive to create work that resonates with audiences on a deeper level.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the ability to connect with people on an emotional level. Whether it’s through a character I bring to life, a song I write, or a story I help tell, I feel immense fulfillment knowing that my work can inspire, comfort, or spark reflection in someone else.
As a creative, I see art as a bridge that unites us—transcending language, culture, and differences. Every time I witness the impact of my work, whether it’s the smile of a child, the tears of someone moved by a song, or the collaboration of a team working toward a shared vision, I am reminded why I chose this path.
Art has the power to transform, and being a part of that transformation is not just rewarding; it’s a privilege.
