We were lucky to catch up with Brucee Denise recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brucee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
Funny story. I decided to become a stretch coach and launch “Stretch More” after many injuries and refusing to take pain meds. The fall that pushed me to fulfill my dreams was when I fell walking my miniature poodle, and nothing helped the pain but stretching. My main steps were just to start, and that’s with anything you set out to do. I started by becoming certified as a personal trainer and stretch/flexibility coach. After becoming certified, I took the proper steps to make Stretch More LLC an official business. The key challenge I continue to face is balance. I am still a full-time HR professional, running a business solo is a lot of work, and balancing is a challenge most days. But, honestly, I wouldn’t have done anything differently. I learned a lot from my first business venture, but having a supportive network and mentor is very beneficial. My advice to a young professional is just to start but properly plan it out i.e., a business plan, and have faith that it will all work out for your GOOD.
Brucee, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a wellness and fitness enthusiast, Stretch More’s owner, and Certified Stretch and flexibility coach. With over 14 years of experience in human resources and a passion for fitness, I combine my professional background with my personal experience to provide top-notch stretching services. A fitness enthusiast for many years, I fell in love with stretching as a remedy for falls and injuries. As a result, I have since become certified as a personal trainer, corrective exercise specialist, group fitness instructor, and stretch/flexibility coach. She holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree and is CPR and AED certified. At Stretch More, my goal is to help clients increase flexibility, relieve stress, and enhance calmness through personalized stretching sessions. My passion for stretching and its benefits led me to start Stretch More, and I’ve been helping clients achieve their stretching goals ever since. So, whether you’re an athlete looking to improve your performance, an office employee looking to alleviate pain from sitting all day, or someone looking to improve overall well-being, I have the knowledge and experience to help you reach your goals. Stretch More offers various services, from assisted stretching sessions to facilitated group sessions and corporate wellness programs. What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Doubt! I can do anything I set out to do with faith and determination. Case in point. I launched Stretch More LLC.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Patience with yourself and your clients. There’s no need to rush the process or your client’s progress. In due time, everything will organically elevate to the next level. Give yourself and your clients Grace!
