We were lucky to catch up with Bruce Foye Jr recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Bruce, thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I was originally in Ohio and I have an extremely deep and unique voice so everyone told me to be an Actor and Voice Actor. I decided to take a risk and sold everything I had and put a few things in my car and moved to Georgia where I worked with Tyler Perry studios and booked the movie Megalopolis. Then the strike happened and I decided to make the final trip out to California because no one believes my voice is real. Now I am here looking for better work and projects.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Bruce Foye Jr and I am an Actor and Voice Actor. I got into the industry because of my voice and how unique it is and I have only completed one main project and that is Megalopolis however I am always studying and going to classes to perfect my craft. I moved here from Ohio in pursuit of this amazing career and the prospect of a better life and more to do out here in California. Anyone can Google me by my name Bruce Foye Jr and find all of my sites with all of my resumes and previous work.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
During my entire journey I have been told it’s too hard and too complicated. That I would never succeed and no one believes my voice is real. That I should give up. However throughout this entire journey I have always had faith in myself because of you don’t have faith and confidence in yourself then who will? There are many that will always look down on you but as long as you believe in yourself and you persevere nothing can stop you.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I absolutely wish I knew about all the scams out there that promise a lot and deliver nothing. The resources that I wish I knew about is Wendy wright and Hollywood Winners circle and TMFA Talent managers for actors all on Facebook. Always look up everyone you talk to on IMDBPro as it is the main site for all professionals in the industry so you won’t get scammed.
