Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bruce Battoe. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bruce, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
Most video companies that make business promotional videos and brand message videos focus only on producing videos for their clients, and stop there. What makes Elite Business Films different is that we take a long-term marketing vision approach to make sure we design clients’ videos to work as pieces within a larger marketing machine that is designed to maximize return on investment. Brand, promo and testimonial videos must work together to generate interest in a company, tell their unique story, and motivate their potential customers to believe in, and engage with, the company and their products or services. We strategically plan for the videos to work with the client’s website, social media, and email campaigns, in order to generate and retain brand-loyal customers.
Bruce, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Our entry into the corporate video production industry was originally in making TV commercials during the 2000’s. As the video capabilities of the Internet grew, and TV’s share of the advertising market shifted to online viewership, so too did we shift our focus into online video promotions for our clients. The online focus allows for more precise targeting of our clients’ customers, and to enable re-targeting as needed. Once the promotional videos are made, they are then integrated into a 6 to 12-month marketing plan which uses them in conjunction with a variety of platforms as needed—including Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, email campaigns, and of course, the client’s website. Most video companies make videos and hand them over to the client, and then “hope” that it works. Our approach is different, in that we listen to the client company’s goals first, then create the marketing plan, and then design the videos to ensure that the client’s goals for growth and ROI can be met. This is why we are Video Marketing Strategists, and not simply videographers.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Our reputation has largely been built by personal relationships and business-to-business referrals. When business owners like what you do, they recommend you to other business owners. This is why we also highly recommend making video testimonials as part of the marketing strategy for our clients. Testimonial videos close more deals than any other type of promotional video. Happy clients lead to other happy clients.
Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
Several years ago, a major Phoenix-area plumbing company came to us and said, “We’re just breaking even with our revenue. Our current TV advertising (made by a local TV station) isn’t producing results. What can we do?” We recommended a new direction for them, which was advertising based on real customer testimonials, rather than their previous funny skits. After making the TV commercials and running them for several months, the client reported that the testimonial form of advertising doubled their monthly revenue! They are still growing strong. People want to hear real success stories, and a reason to trust a company. Make this work, and customers will find you.
