We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brooklyn Dicent a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brooklyn, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Absolutely! Picture this; I’d been lighting up stages with my stand-up comedy for a while, but everything shifted after one transformative improv class. It awakened a deeper purpose in me – to wield humor as a tool to alleviate stress and help people navigate life’s challenges.
Flash forward to a 2016 performance in front of a packed house. That evening, instead of sticking to my script, I dove into uncharted territory – what we call ‘crowd work’. I began engaging directly with the audience, turning their responses into spontaneous comedy. The energy was electric!
But here’s the plot twist. As the night progressed, I found myself intuitively “tuning in” to individuals, giving them light-hearted life advice packaged as jokes.
That evening, a spark was ignited. I envisioned a mission: transforming lives through laughter. To sharpen my skills, I delved into the realms of hypnosis, NLP, and intuition merging them with comedy.
Today, I’m on a global journey, spreading joy, humor, and instantaneous life-enhancing insights to audiences everywhere.

Brooklyn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Ah, yes, good idea. So, my journey into the realm of personal development began when I was just 16, when I dived into the art of handwriting analysis. This training wasn’t just about understanding others; it reshaped my own mindset. As years went by, I drew inspiration from legendary motivational speakers and took the leap into professional speaking in my twenties.
What I bring to the table is a potent mix of mindset coaching for success across various facets of business. But that’s not all. I also discovered that I have psychic gifts that allow me to tap into an individual’s potential at an accelerated pace, far surpassing traditional coaching or therapy.
But here’s the real kicker: I rely entirely on my intuition to help individuals break through mental roadblocks that hinder their success. And the icing on the cake? My knack for humor. It lets me sidestep the usual barriers people put up and, in a playful manner, address the heart of the matter. This isn’t just a profession for me; it’s a calling, one that resonates with every fiber of my being.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Absolutely. One of the hardest things I had to unlearn was overcoming fear itself. We moved to New York from Puerto Rico at 7. My parents struggled to make ends meet so I spent a lot of time on my own. I had to learn to fend for myself learning the language, culture, and customs of a new place at a young age.
School was particularly difficult because I had to figure out how to succeed in a pretty rough inner-city environment. One of the skills that I developed was the power of observation. I had no idea at the time how useful this skill would be in my career. We moved around a lot so I was in a new school at the start of year.
I was often quiet and didn’t socialize a lot. Until one day I paid attention to the more advanced kids in the class. I noticed that they go attention from the teacher because they did their homework and participated in class. When I began noticing the pattern the resulted those kids getting better treatment by teachers, it sparked me to do the same.
I’d come home do all my homework. Asked my teachers for extra credit work. Was ready to participate in class. Sure, kids started calling me names, however it did not matter, I wanted to succeed. Those early decisions to be the best I could regardless of the circumstances lives in me even till this day.
Consequently, with the use of powerful mental tools, I’ve built the skill to slay once-debilitating fears, doubts, and self-imposed worries have faded. In their place stands a resolve to make a meaningful impact on the world.

Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
You know what’s interesting? Ten years ago, people were passing brochures to be known. Today, we walk around with the potential of building our own personal media empire in our pocket.
By far, my most impactful marketing tool is video. I am a speaker! People need to experience what I do. When I was Emceeing weddings, I attended tons of wedding shows. However, the only way I’d attend was if the organizers allowed me to Emcee the event. Why? For something I call Influential Visibility.
Selling is all about influencing the buyer to see YOU as the solution to their problem. Video allows client to see me as the solution to their meeting challenge; finding a great speaker. Video helps meeting planners experience what one client called The Brooklyn Effect. They want to know I can entertain and inspire an audience of hundreds of people. And as one planner said, “From the moment I saw your videos, I knew you were THE ONE for this event”
Here’s one more cample. . Picture a bleak winter’s Friday night during the height of the pandemic. An inner urge compelled me to create a video to instill a sense of hope in people during those uncertain times.
Pressing that ‘record’ button felt like an insurmountable task. I grappled with hesitation for hours, but the urge to send out a positive message was too overwhelming. So, with raw emotion, I did a single take and shared it.
By morning, the video had erupted in popularity. The sheer number of comments, shares, and most crucially, meeting planner’s resonated with the message of positivity. They made a “B” line (see what I did there!) to invite me to speak at their organizations.
