Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brooke Widener. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Brooke, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I define success as waking up, replenished by admiration for the life one continues to build. The journey consists of many twists and turns. Often we focus on the lows while forgetting to celebrate the highs. Living a life nourished by passion is key. Fall in love with as much as possible, then find a way to share your passions with others. Everyone is great at something.
Brooke, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve always had an appreciation for the oddities of life; insects being at the top of the list! In 2017, I combined my passion for insects and farming to start Bee’s Consulting Firm.
I was born and raised in East Tennessee.
In 2015, I packed up my few belongings, said farewell to all of my family and friends, and moved to a state I’d never been to before: Michigan! I wanted to follow my desire to become a farmer, live with the land, and find peace in a simpler lifestyle.
I am self-taught in pest management and regenerative farming. I’ve been very fortunate throughout my cannabis journey to be able to work with many top leaders in the industry! One of these collaborations won 1st place at a World High Times Cannabis Cup!
Bee’s Consulting Firm specializes in creating State-Compliant Integrated Pest Management Programs for the Cannabis Industry. We apply our 7 years of hands-on experience, knowledge, and passion to help our clients prevent or mitigate pest pressures in cultivation environments extending from indoor, greenhouse, and outdoor production. We teach our clients that IPM is a lifestyle! Integrated Pest Management practices are a broad category of cultivation strategies.
A solid IPM program is the foundation of all successful operations.
I developed and currently maintain the IPM program at LightSky Farms (36 High Time Cannabis Cups Awards) Founded by Shannon Walters.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social Media has been a pivotal tool to help build the success of my business. In my industry, your Instagram page is an important piece of your resume. Social Media gave me a platform to create connections and collaborate with many top brands throughout the world.
Stop having concerns about your profile being “picture perfect” and start posting….everything. Post in’s and out’s of your day. Create content that adds value by educating your followers about your craft and yourself. It can be challenging to capture people’s attention on social media; however, stay true to your authentic self and automatically you’ve set yourself apart from the crowd.
The unwavering love, support, and encouragement from my followers means more to me than I will ever be able to express!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Having passion, finding ways to “raise the bar” , and being a kind person is what helped build my reputation. I’m in love with what I do and it translates into my work. I never have nor will I ever accept mediocrity, because I aspire to always be better than I was the day before. There will always be room for improvement in all facets of your life! Learn to appreciate the challenges that pop up along the way.
