We recently connected with Brooke Mcpoyle and have shared our conversation below.
Brooke, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Almost one year ago, I took one of the biggest risks of my career: transforming how I shared my knowledge by creating a lecture called “The Brain and Breath Connection.” The lecture stemmed from a discovery that reversed challenges in my own body, my family’s, and my clients’. It revealed how our breath, fascia, and brainwaves are interconnected, enabling us to regulate and regenerate health through natural rhythms.
Instead of continuing with traditional one-off classes, I envisioned reaching a global audience by producing a professional, digital version of the lecture. At the time, I lacked resources, technical skills, and a clear path to scale, but I was determined to share this knowledge because I believed it had the potential to change lives.
For nine months, I poured everything into this project, hosting around 14 local events each month. I charged $50 per ticket—just enough to cover venue fees and anatomy props. Financially, it wasn’t productive, but I was laying the groundwork. After four months of posting short clips online, one video unexpectedly went viral. Overnight, I received hundreds of emails from people eager to watch the full lecture. It was a turning point.
The initial version was recorded on my phone—poor visuals and audio—but the demand for the content was undeniable. To honor this interest, I decided to create a professional production. I invited supporters to contribute $20 toward the filming costs, and to my surprise, hundreds stepped up. With their help, I funded a professional team, including a husband-and-wife videography duo, makeup artist Carla Fuhnmayer, and a generous venue sponsor.
Yet, just three days before launch, I realized I didn’t know how to securely release the content online. That’s when Daniel Herter, a tech expert and visionary, reached out and helped me put the lecture behind a paywall. His timely support ensured the knowledge reached people while maintaining its integrity.
This risk not only paid off but became the foundation for what Musical Breathwork is today. The curiosity generated from that lecture filled my private sessions and inspired me to create affordable courses, reaching people worldwide. This journey taught me that when passion meets purpose, risks can lead to extraordinary rewards.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Brooke McPoyle, and I am the founder of Musical Breathwork, an education company dedicated to helping people unlock their greatest health potential by tapping into the hidden rhythms within their bodies. I believe that the body is more like a musical instrument than simply a biological system. There are rhythms—your breath rate, heart rate, brainwaves, and even your body tension—that create a symphony within you. My work helps people tune this internal orchestra to optimize their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
My journey into this field was deeply personal. Years ago, I discovered a sequence of techniques that transformed my own health, as well as the health of my family and clients. By blending breathwork, fascia therapy, and neuroscience, I uncovered a way to regulate and regenerate the body’s natural rhythms. This sparked my passion to share these techniques with the world and empower others with tools that are simple, effective, and accessible.
At Musical Breathwork, we offer a range of educational courses and resources. Our flagship programs include:
Fascia Flow: A gentle, ground-up approach to releasing body tension and hydrating the fascia, which helps the body feel fluid, relaxed, and rejuvenated.
Mighty Breath: A unique sequence combining opera and free-diving breath techniques to double lung capacity, lower breath rates, and synchronize brainwaves for better creativity and focus.
Free Breath and Fascia Test: A beginner-friendly introduction to assess how the body holds tension and where improvements can begin.
The problems we solve are both physical and mental:
Physically, our techniques help relieve chronic tension, improve circulation, and enhance lung capacity.
Mentally, we teach people how to access more creative, focused, and peaceful states by regulating their brainwaves and nervous system.
What sets us apart is our integration of music, science, and holistic wellness. We treat the body not as a problem to fix, but as an instrument to fine-tune. This blend of fascia work and breath techniques is unique, supported by neuroscience, and deeply rooted in the idea that everything in the body is connected. Our approach is both highly effective and gentle, designed for people of all levels of experience.
I am most proud of the community Musical Breathwork has built. What started as a small series of lectures has grown into a global movement. Seeing people from different parts of the world transform their lives through our courses is incredibly rewarding. I’m also proud of our commitment to accessibility—making education affordable while maintaining the highest quality standards.
The main thing I want people to know is that all the tools you need for optimal health already exist within you. Through Musical Breathwork, we help you uncover and master these tools so you can live with more ease, creativity, and vitality. Everything is connected, and when we align with our body’s natural rhythms, we rise together.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I’ll never forget the serendipity of meeting my business partner, Daniel Herter. It was just three days before I was set to launch my first professionally filmed course, and I had no idea how to release it securely. I wasn’t tech-savvy and was deeply concerned about ensuring the integrity of the content while making it accessible to the growing number of people eager to learn from me.
Out of the blue, Daniel reached out through a direct message. He saw the potential in what I was building and offered to help me create a secure way to host and share the course. Over the next few months, we collaborated online, navigating the technical hurdles of launching an educational platform. But it wasn’t just his expertise that made him an invaluable partner—it was his passion for the mission of Musical Breathwork and his belief in what we were doing.
The first time we met in person was at a music festival. We spent a week together, dancing, sweating, and celebrating the success of what we had built. It was such a pure and joyful experience, surrounded by incredible music and amazing energy. That time together gave us a chance to truly connect on a personal and soulful level, beyond just the business. It was a celebration of not just what we had created but also the shared values and vision that brought us together.
What makes our partnership special is the balance we bring to the table. My focus is on the creative and educational aspects of Musical Breathwork, while Daniel brings a strategic, technical perspective that allows us to reach a global audience. Together, we’ve been able to combine our skills and passion to create something far bigger than either of us could have achieved alone.
For me, the story of how we met reflects the very essence of Musical Breathwork—finding harmony in unexpected rhythms and rising together to create something meaningful.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been focusing on education. Instead of trying to compete with others in the wellness space, I chose to align with what felt most natural to me—sharing knowledge and helping people understand how their bodies truly work. I believe we’re at a point in humanity where people don’t need more things; they need more stillness and connection. My goal has always been to provide that through education and empowerment.
When I first started, I spent a lot of time asking myself deep questions: What feels authentic to me? What will truly help people? And how can I create something in alignment with my purpose? It wasn’t always easy, and it took prayers, soul-searching, and trial and error. But once I found that alignment, everything changed. My work started to flow naturally, and clients seemed to find me without effort.
I’ve learned that people trust you when you genuinely care about them, and the best way to show that is by giving—whether it’s through free resources, meaningful conversations, or sharing insights without expecting anything in return. That approach allows people to make their own choices and feel confident about working with you.
For me, it’s about helping people see the bigger picture of their health. When you educate people and align with your purpose, you naturally become a magnet for the right clients and opportunities. And when you approach your work with love and care, everything else falls into place.
