We were lucky to catch up with Brooke Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brooke, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I want to be the main foundation for the future generations of kids, grandkids, great grandkids, GOD kids, etc. that I will create. I want to create a legacy that is completely different than the one I was raised in. This includes family owned businesses such as Private Practices regarding Fitness, Mental Health, and advocacy for homelessness, lack of resources, and trauma. This also includes being a great leader and role model in whatever community I am in and leaving a positive mark. I am the first member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and of any Greek and divine nine organization within my close knit family. This is starting my own legacy of sisterhood, community service, and ultimate unity of all of our African American brothers and sisters. Lastly, I want to use my voice to spread beautifully noise that will uplift and encourage all who listens. I want to sing and share my music without the fame, money, and evil attached to it. I want people to feel the calmness and serenity I feel as the bass drops, the melodies chime, and the instruments flow. All of these factors will influence great success, hard-work, talent, and strength within my legacy and all of my attributes will be instilled in those future generations. I want to build a legacy that emphasizes that you have to work hard to get what you want in this life and survive through the difficult times because there WILL be many. My legacy will educate, provide, inspire, and grow others, but will push them to have a growth mindset and better themselves despite the obstacles, mental health problems, traumatic experiences, and the evil that paints the world. I always used to think, “what would people think or say when I leave this world?” Well honestly, I feel that they will say things like, she was “bright”, a hard-worker, a beautiful soul, or “I KNEW HER”. But what really matters to me will be the influential and positive things I left behind that will speak for people. My legacy will be what I am remembered for. “Despite everything that was thrown at her, she persevered and created this, executed that, influenced this, helped them, and is still having a strong impact while being gone.” I will be remembered for my testimonies and through the pain and negativity, I remained beautiful in and out and I made it easier for those who are suffering with the same things. It takes a lot to build a legacy, and it shouldn’t be intentional. With me being who I am, with 100% confidence, the legacy is being created every day I awake and tackle and WIN over the things life tries to use to tear me down!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
“Brooke, what can’t you do?” Well, let me tell you what I can do. My name is Brooke Johnson and I am a 23 year old woman from Memphis, Tennessee. I graduated in 2018 and received my diploma, graduate in 2022 and received my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and Criminology, and will be graduating, prayerfully in 2025, to receive my Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Over time, I plan to start my own Private Practice, providing therapy to any and everyone especially those who have suffered from Prenatal Loss, ACE, and those who have experienced homelessness and poverty. Along with my education, I have grown exponentially in the influencer/social media field and now consider myself as a Social Media Influencer and Collaborator. I post content that relates to my niches such as Fitness/Gym, Beauty & Wellness, Makeup & Fashion, and Music & Comedy. I also collaborate with brands all over the world and create content to promote their brands efficiently. Along with my fitness/gym niche, I created my brand BMindful, Body, & Fitness. This online business provides virtual and in-person 30 Minutes- 1 hour 30 minute long sessions to every person who is interested in elevating their growth physically, mentally, and emotionally. I provide Focused-Area workouts, Meditation and Calmness Sessions, Dance workouts, full body workouts, and more! My mottos are Let’s Grow Together” and “Health is Wealth” because we all have room to grow and improve, even myself and I want to be right beside those who are willing to grow. Lastly, your physical health depends on your mental health, so with both, you can become the best version of yourself. Another way I keep active and enjoy the things I love to do, I am also a member of the Memphis Hustle NBA G-League Basketball team hype crew. We are the most hype dancers in the league and we support our fans and players at every in season game! What sets me apart from others in all of my obligations is my true motivation and love for what I do. Everything that I do, I am passionate about it and take it extremely serious. I want to generally support and help others in every way I can whether it is helping them grow their clientele from 10-1000, or helping someone achieve their mental and physical health goals. I can care less about having likes or about the money on some things. I generally want to share my gifts and talents with the world because I know that it will inspire people when they look at me or hear my name. I am most proud of myself for standing on my own personal business and not allowing society to change my beliefs or alter what I love to do. I never try to fit in and always stand out from others and that isn’t an easy thing to do considering today’s standards. I will continue to do what I love and how I want to do it because GOD gave me the ability to do so. I am also proud of how far I have come and grown in a matter of years. To be able to do the things I can do, has been nothing but a blessing from up above. I won’t allow these resources to go to waste nor use them to promote negativity. To my followers, fan, clients.. I take pride in everything that I do. It isn’t for a status or for fame, but for happiness and motivation. I hope all that I do can influence you to become your own bosses, influencers, artists, professionals, etc. Allow the work that I do to push you to be better than who you were yesterday. Lastly, be yourself NO MATTER WHAT STANDARDS ARE OUT THERE. Your authentic self will WIN every time.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative is having the availability to be myself. It is so easy to fit in with the rest of the world, but instead I choose to go left than right. This isn’t easy to do because a lot of people do not like natural, genuine, and authentic work. I am proud that I push past the standards, be my true and authentic self, and actually create and work based off of the things I genuinely love. To know that I have fans, followers, and clients makes me extremely proud and happy because they see in me what I see in myself. It is very rewarding to do what you love and have people to support you through it.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to make my dreams my full-time JOB (not job). I don’t want the things I love to do to feel like a job, but more like a hobby that is paying the bills. I want to combine my business Brooke Alexia: B Mindful, Body & Fitness along with my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have goals to be the inspiration in someone’s positive change whether it is mentally, physically, and/or emotionally. While being a creator, I have the goal in being a role model for women and men. I want people to see my resiliency, talents, and growth over time. I do not strive for people to be “ME” but have the same strengths and attributes that I have to be successful. Also as a creator, I want to continue to be a positive attribute to other business owners by creating for them and promoting their brand the best way I can. I want to continue to grow in all fields and put myself out into the big world in an healthy, motivational, and positive way. I drive towards more opportunities to grow my following and client’s, to enhance my skills as a creator, and becoming more confident as a successful individual.
