We recently connected with Brooke Chalk and have shared our conversation below.
Brooke , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I took the risk on becoming a yoga instructor! I had only had a few months training other than trying it out here and there over the years. I decided to take the risk and go for it because I knew that adding yoga to my women’s empowerment business would help other women in so many ways. Just like it changed my life! After taking that risk or should I say giant leap of faith not only have I helped so many women see the power within themselves but I’ve learn so much from each woman I have helped.
Brooke , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those of you that do not know me my name is Brooke chalk. I started my women’s empowerment business back in 2017. I started this business because ever since I was a child I had the gift to almost see and feel others pain. I may not have known exactly what they were going through but I could feel something and other times even as a child when I seen someone get hurt or get in trouble it was really get to me. As I got older, the urge to help people grow stronger and stronger. I did began helping without even realizing it, I was always offering some type of advice for help in some form or another. So that’s how I decided to start my women’s empowerment business, which is called the power within. My mission is to show women, young women and teens worldwide. That they have the power within to do anything, they put their minds to! The power within to overcome anything that they may have been through. Moving forward, back in 2019 I took a yoga class with a cousin of mine. (Keisha Daniels) and she really just showed me the ropes in the true meaning of yoga and every since then I fell in love with it, and it truly changed my life so that is when I added on the beginners yoga to my women, empowerment business. I host pop-up shops throughout the year I hold beginners yoga classes. I also hold different empowerment events and fun events for women in Charlotte, North Carolina. I also offer one online yoga classes online as well as coaching classes and mentoring for women. You can find some of my workout clothes, journals and as lounge wear on my website as well. Anything that makes you feel good and look good is there! Its a must we as women know that not only do you have that power within you, but it shines through you. So dress up and look good at all times whether you’re in the gym, yoga studio or outside!
I am most proud being a yoga instructor with anxiety.. I really had to step outside of the box and do something different in order to help other women. Because I wanted to help so bad even with this anxiety I made myself push through. That is another reason why I like to started my business. I want to show women t that even with anxiety and other things that could hold me back! We can push through it. Yes, You can literally do anything to put your mind. My classes are extremely fun and different and very healing and empowering at the same time. You will find different ways and different healing techniques through my classes in courses as well.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
If I could go back I would definitely choose the same profession. Yoga is for everyone. It is connecting you to you! That’s your most important relationship.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
After having my last child in 2021 . I end up having postpartum depression. This took a toll on me like never before. Postpartum was something that I had always heard of and thought was something totally different from what I was experiencing. I learned so much about myself during that phase of my life which is not completely gone. I wanted to give up on myself and my business but instead I used it as strength to build me back up even stronger. Something else happened though. Not only and I stronger but I have so much more self awareness. This deeper love and connection I built with myself during this trying times makes me want to help women even more.
