Alright, Brooke thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
Interestingly enough, the idea to become an aviation analyst, travel reviewer and subsequent agent did not occur to me until after my marriage was over. I started watching aviation YouTube videos as a waybto distract myself. Eventually I wondered how much it would cost to go on one of these trips. It was then I fell in love with aviation and decided to pursue my pilot’s license. While I’ll never fly commercially, the process of learning to fly helps understand the science of flight. I seek to pass this understanding on to others. Visiting different places, cities, foods,cultures helps us appreciate so much in life. I wish to help people experience this.
Brooke, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Well first off, I’m Brooke of Brooke In The Air, I run a YouTube channel, Patreon, website and of course, travel service. Aviation and travel is my passion but I also enjoy running, other exercise, reading, writing, (I’ve been published in academic journals and have, so far, released one book in the sci fi genre). In my “day” job, I work for the US department of Veteran’s Affairs. It is my goal to share the joys of luxury travel while doing do on a budget. I mean let’s be honest, it’d 2024, none of us are rich. But we can live like it.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I don’t mind discussing finances at all. I was at a loss for awhile, wondering what to do to support my business. Eventually, i lucked into finding the Viator partnership program which helps me earn commission on every Viator advertisement a person clicks on, on my site. Further, my “day” job goes to finance the business as do my book sales.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
When I met Geoff, I was in college and we were playing an online game. He was always interested in technology though in a very broad sense. He got interested in aviation because of me, but he made his real contribution to the business as the official Brooke In The Air video editor.
