We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bronwyn Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Bronwyn, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
After working in Corporate America for 10 years in Green Tech and Venture Capital, I admit I got a little burned out from the hustle. I decided to choose a different career path and try something new, which led me to getting my real estate license and joining The Oppenheim Group Brokerage, made famous by The Netflix TV Series Selling Sunset and Selling The OC. This appealed to me because I was looking for more diversity and fun in my work environment that still kept me feeling challenged but didn’t burn me out. The real estate sector is highly competitive, so pressure still remains to be a high performer. I’m enjoying working at The O Group so much because it’s a very unique brokerage unlike any other. It’s far less corporate than the average brokerage. The brand is incredibly strong and known all over the world. This uniqueness appealed to my thirst for a more creative focus on architecture, fashion, luxury homes and interior design. Additionally, green sustainable real estate has become my niche at the brokerage. This allows me to use my background in green tech and sustainability and also fulfills my desire to be surrounded and energized by beautiful homes, deepening my fascination with modern luxury developments and the luxury real estate lifestyle that encompasses the O Group brokerage.

Bronwyn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was born and raised in Australia, and my journey as an Entrepreneur has been a tapestry of diverse experiences woven together by an unwavering passion for innovation. My career began in the world of modeling and acting, where I had the privilege of gracing the screens of TV series like “Neighbours,” reaching an astounding global audience of over 70 million viewers. Yet, amidst the glamor and excitement, a relentless creative hunger called me toward new horizons. I embarked on a journey into the realm of venture capital, refining my expertise in business negotiations with a focused approach on green tech. This path eventually led me to the fascinating worlds of real estate and sustainability, where I found my true calling. In 2014, I assumed a pivotal role as an advisor to the International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI™), propelling me into the heart of the real estate industry. Concurrently, I founded CORAL SUSTAIN LLC, a green consulting firm dedicated to consulting green tech innovators, luxury real estate, sustainable development, and more. Today, as a realtor at the prestigious Oppenheim Group, I’ve cultivated trust among my high-net-worth network. I’ve earned a reputation for unwavering integrity and a steadfast commitment to client confidentiality. Additionally, this month I just accepted a role as partner and Global Communications Officer of Food+Travel Magazine and Food+Travel Media. My role there is spearheading our digital content into short form shows on luxury travel and lifestyle. This new venture has me super excited to build this department from scratch and see how far we can take it. Beyond the world of business, I’m a dedicated philanthropist. My journey in philanthropy began as a spokesperson for the Make-A-Wish Children’s Foundation of Australia. Presently, I advocate for clean drinking water through Water Health International, a cause that lies close to my heart. Throughout my odyssey, I’ve ventured into various sectors. Yet, for me, it’s more than just a label; it’s about pursuing endeavors that bring happiness and satisfaction while uplifting others. In essence, my journey has been a quest for happiness, a mission for positive impact, and an unwavering commitment to achievement. Whether through luxury real estate, sustainability, philanthropy, or inspiring and helping others, my path is illuminated by the hope of a brighter future, and a more equal playing field for ambitious women and a healthier world.

Have you ever had to pivot?
One pivotal moment in my life came when I realized the incredible strength and resilience, we as women possess in the male-dominated business world. I transitioned from entertainment to business and sustainability because I craved growth and innovation. I saw an opportunity to inspire and empower other businesswomen and support those women who, like me, are on innovative paths in male-dominated industries like venture capital, technology, and real estate. Representation matters, and by embracing entrepreneurship, I aimed to show that women can thrive in any field. The key is mutual support among women. When we lift each other up, we amplify our voices and break barriers. Success isn’t finite; there’s room for all of us to shine. My experience showcases the ability of women to adapt, create, and stand by each other as a testament to their potential. I hope it inspires women to chase their dreams, shatter glass ceilings, and create an inclusive business landscape together.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Growing my social media has been so much fun. My social media emphasizes the importance of remaining true, authentic, and passionately genuine in every possible way. I believe in just being myself and letting my creativity shine. My love for fashion, especially showcasing fun outfits for filming and events related to “Selling Sunset” and “Selling the OC,” naturally found its place on my social media because it brings me immense joy. For me, it’s not just about fashion and beauty; it’s about being unique and authentic. I want my social media presence to inspire women and provide a safe and positive space. Social media can sometimes be challenging due to negativity, but I strive to maintain a positive and uplifting atmosphere. I’ve also been fortunate to work with an amazing social media, PR and management team. Sonali Randhawa, who is the founder of LA Media Agency, Daniel De Castaellane, my PR and my talent manager, and Geoff Silverman from The Cartel Management have all helped me represent my identity authentically and effectively not only on social media but throughout my career as an Entrepreneur. Here’s the thing – I haven’t invested in paid marketing or media. My approach is all about genuine engagement and sharing my mission and passions.
For those looking to build their social media presence, my advice is simple: Find what truly lights you up, what you’re genuinely passionate about, and use that passion to educate and inspire others. The social media space offers countless opportunities, but it does require some trial and error and a lot of hard work. Remember, if you have a goal and you’re determined, you can make it happen. Stay true to yourself, be authentic, and let your passion shine through, and you’ll naturally attract like-minded individuals who resonate with your message.
