We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brodie Casanova. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brodie below.
Brodie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?
If I were starting from scratch with music again I would definitely choose to listen to the advice from my friends more. I would learn how to produce and engineer music so much earlier than I have now. Music means so much to me and I feel like I didn’t express myself enough growing up as an artist an although I do now, I would definitely do it much more often if I could. Also, I would have sought out my wife sooner, she’s been the inspiration for a lot of my best work, without her being so active in my life I probably wouldn’t be answering questions today!
Brodie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As a music producer, my role is to oversee the creation and development of music tracks. This involves conceptualizing ideas, arranging compositions, selecting appropriate instrumentation, and guiding artists through the recording process. I’m responsible for ensuring that the final product aligns with the artistic vision while also meeting industry standards for quality and marketability.
As a music engineer, I handle the technical aspects of the recording process. This includes setting up microphones, adjusting sound levels, and mixing tracks to achieve the desired sound. I really utilize various equipment and software to capture and manipulate audio, striving to optimize clarity, balance, and sonic aesthetics.
As a music artist, I am the direct creative force behind the music. I write lyrics, compose melodies, and perform vocals or instrumentals. My main goal is to express myself authentically through the music, connecting with audiences emotionally and intellectually. I may collaborate with other artists, producers, and engineers to bring your musical vision to life. Either way ,the choice is mine to make!
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Networking has been the most effective strategy for growing my clientele. Building relationships with other artists, producers, engineers, and industry professionals allows me to showcase all of my skills, collaborate on projects, and gain referrals. Attending music events, conferences, and workshops provides opportunities to connect with potential clients and showcase my body of work. Additionally, leveraging social media platforms and online communities to share my portfolio and engage with a wider audience can help attract new clients and opportunities to me and my team.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the ability to express oneself authentically and connect with others on a deep emotional level. Creating something from nothing, whether it’s music, visual art, or literature, allows artists to explore their innermost thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Witnessing the impact of their work on audiences, whether through evoking strong emotions, sparking meaningful conversations, or inspiring change, brings a profound sense of fulfillment and purpose to their artistic journey.
