We recently connected with Britton Briley and have shared our conversation below.
Britton, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
Ghost Brands is always doing things that are outside of the typical norm With being inside the “marketing” and “agency” niche; it can get pretty repetitive when clients approach us about services and how we are different.
As being one of the last “A La Carte” agencies in the nation, we think about conforming to the clients needs and not the other way around. Typically clients come to an advertising agency and are presented with packages (Good, Better, Best) that are designed for the agency to tack on services that might not be relevant to the client…. at Ghost Brands; we are the complete opposite.
We allow our clients to pick & choose from our 47 different services and give them complete control to customize a proposal to their needs as a business. We realized early on that each business is different, they aren’t “cookie cutters” that we mold to fit our needs but the other way around.
Thus it has allowed Ghost Brands to be the agency of choice for many companies in both the Southeast and nationally reaching Texas, Illinois, Kansas, Virginia, and even New England.
Our mission is to do things “behind the scenes” and allowing our clients to shine in the limelight. Business owners know what we do and it is because of our quality, results, and consistency that we build our business from companies recommending us within their inner circles.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have always been a little bit of a energizer bunny throughout my entire life. Growing up as the second child in a middle class family; I craved attention and was more of the “black sheep” of the family. Throughout my life I would say that I have always been highly focused, driven, and motivated to do my own thing; pave my own path along with throwing myself into my work. (Long before I started my own company).
I was first introduced to “marketing” throughout my corporate years between Complete Nutrition, General Nutrition Centers (GNC), and UFC Gym. Holding various roles such as Marketing Director, Director of Marketing & Advertising and Chief Marketing Office between 2010 until 2018. Once I climbed as far as I could in the corporate ladder; I decided to start my own marketing company back in 2018.
Originally being called “Viking Solutions” before rebranding to Ghost Brands in 2020; we decided to take the “marketing” genre and flip it on it’s head. Marketing has been such a broad term for customers, business, and other agencies being mislabeled and thus we wanted to showcase what marketing could be from an “A La Carte” style. Allowing the client complete control of what they wanted to be quoted for instead of having them conform to our standards as an agency.

One unique aspect is that Ghost Brands does everything in-house. A complete list of 47 different services from photography, videography, graphic design, web development, social media management, media buying, brand development, consulting, and much more. We are the end-to-end solution for any business that needs marketing, production, and consulting expertise.

Having such a diverse clientele allows us to constantly think outside the box and keep innovation top of mind for each industry specific.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I think the best pivoting story for our business was the rebranding from Viking Solutions to Ghost Brands. At the beginning, I was dreading it due to all the time, energy, and financial commitment poured into the business. Investing almost two years into the community, Viking Solutions development, brand recognition, and all the business needs such as LLC, trademarks, vehicle wraps, domains and signage.
It felt as if I was just flushing two years worth of work down the drain with a rebrand; yet it would come to be the best decision for the company in the long run.
From moving to Viking Solutions to Ghost Brands helped us identify better with clients, customers, and our employees. No everyone in our company had “Norwegian” blood and it was more of a pushed mantra upon our staff than being “Ghosts.” Holding a split test in Greenville, Columbia and Charleston allowed us to verify our beliefs by having almost 87% of all participants choose Ghost Brands over Viking Solutions by just the name and the mottos

Once the rebrand, Ghost Brands was catapulted into the limelight by being higher ranked within the business community, searchability online, and relatability to the end consumer.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
For Ghost Brands, our reputation is everything. We aren’t advertising ourselves online, pushing our brand down people’s throats but allowing those who work with us to spread our name within their inner circles.
Our reputation is the only thing that we can control whether it is onboarding or offboarding a client. We want their experience to always be positive one; no matter what. We understand as an agency that companies will come and go on our roster and that has nothing to do with either brand; yet an understanding that we all grow together and sometimes that means expansion in different territories and needs.
I think I want people to realize that Ghost Brands isn’t your black tie agency, we aren’t dressed to impress but just want to be authentic, original, and true to our nature. We are a fun, creative and high tempo agency that doesn’t abide to the conformity of fake. It speaks volumes in our reputation as natural, authentic, and original throughout our building, vernacular, and the way we present ourselves.
Reputation is everything, but authenticity is paramount.
