Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittney Thornton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Brittney, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.

My parents were both in the Army so to be obedient and disciplined was a requirement growing up. My mother home schooled after regular public school and my father would apply our knowledge through life skills and experiences. I’m grateful for the exposure to different environments and places all over the world that they showed me. My career has been influenced by being diversely cultured and I appreciate them setting the bar high.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

As I now approach 8 years in the industry as a media personality and more I have realized so much! My why has never changed but I’m fueled even more today than before. I began as a radio personality and the several hats I wear today came from not staying in one place, you’ve got to move whenever the right opportunity comes or you may miss your mark. I have been to many red carpets and events providing interviews with community influencers to celebrities across the country. Covering as media or press has been one of my biggest joys. Many have said I am a combo of media queens like Angie Martinez, Wendy Williams and Oprah. I love getting to highlight the best parts of each guest I share a mic with. Blogging has taken me far as well, I love creating content that world enjoys. I have been doing radio & in social media managing for over 6 years for myself and other brands/businesses, I have been an influencer in many topics ranging from music to plus size fashion. I look forward to the next level my skill sets will take me!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

My audience is organic from interests alone! I am very proud that I reached 10K Followers on Instagram alone, no marketing companies, no auto-stream services. Natural grinding, hard work and continuous engagement with people built my audience. You have to care, all of my supporters know I have built my platform from passion and love.

Have you ever had to pivot?

My first time on-air as a radio host I thought this is it, my calling. Well I have blossomed into a Model and Wellness Coach from my own personal weight loss. People began demanding my time, training, insight and more so I felt I had a responsibility to venture into more than media.

When I was approached with questions and requests for services like social media marketing & management, graphic design, videography and editing, I knew I had valuable skillsets to continuously master. Reinvention is the start to a rebirth.
