We were lucky to catch up with Brittney Roseburrow recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brittney, appreciate you joining us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
In 2009 I started pursuing my degree in Graphic Design. I wasn’t sure what to expect of this experience but I did know my inner self was telling me to go for it. As time went on I started to see my creative thoughts come together in the visual/physical form. I was good at this! I was able to take something simplistic and digitally create the unimaginable without hesitation. Shortly after graduating I started working as a print center associate at OfficeMax and that alone lit a fire in me. I would go to work everyday happy that I could help customers with their printing needs but I was also slightly frustrated because I knew I had so much more creativity to offer. I would have certain customers come in every week just to see me. They knew I could take their design ideas to the next level without question, and I did! Who would have thought a year later I would fully launch Unpredictable Designs LLC. I felt like if I was going to wow the world with my creative abilities then I was going to make sure everyone knew I was the face behind the designs and they would remember my name.

Brittney, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Brittney Roseburrow the Owner and Graphic Designer of Unpredictable Designs. I pride myself on building my business based off of creativity and self expression. This whole process of being a Graphic Designer was a road of self-discovery. When I graduated from high school, I was really in a position of finding my true talent, I knew I had a love for computers but quite frankly I had no clue what I wanted to do with them. I spent several years of trial and error until I took a leap and Graphic Design pretty much found me.
Unpredictable Designs is a creative digital agency that specializes in print design. Some of our services include logos, flyers, invitations, business cards, brochures, programs, banners, and much more.
On top of those individual services, we offer creative bundles to service upcoming weddings, birthday parties, baby showers, etc. Also as of 2021, we now offer retainer services for companies or clients that may need our consistent creative services on a monthly basis.
I am most proud of the company’s growth. Being that I started this company by myself knowing the bare minimum about growing a business Unpredictable designs has come an extremely long way. In 2011, we started with 5 services and as of 2022 we now offer over 25 services.
I feel as if we have become a one-stop-shop. Do you need invitations? We got that! The printing and envelopes? We got that too! Our client intake process has become a lot smoother as well. I want to make sure every step of the design process is as stress-free as possible and I can honestly say we have done that.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Number 1, my Faith in God! I know for some that may sound crazy but for me it’s first and foremost. Without saying too much but saying just enough He has given me the strength to keep going and keep growing. There have been many days where I was ready to call it quits because the clientele wasn’t rolling in and without the clientele there is no business. But overall that relationship I have with Him and prayer have kept me in sound mind and motivated.
Secondly, WORD OF MOUTH! I can’t thank my faithful family, friends and clients enough. Without them my clientele wouldn’t have grown the way it has. If they weren’t telling someone about my services they were handing out my flyers. If they weren’t handing out flyers they were representing in one of my business t-shirts and if they weren’t wearing a t-shirt they were sharing my business posts on social media. Word of mouth has worked wonders for me. I feel like business owners lean so heavily on social media now that they forget there are other ways to grow your clientele. All I can say is never give up, you will see the growth when you least expect it,

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
The one thing I think non-creatives struggle to understand is how much time, hard work and money we put into our creative journey. I feel so defeated sometimes when I hear how others outside of the creative world take us for granted. They think what we do is “easy”, they think they can do it too. When in all actuality it takes a certain level of skill and education to do what we do correctly. Technology has made it so easy for people to have at hand access to create quick creations on their own and that is great, but what people should also understand is that quick doesn’t always produce quality. If you want to stand out and separate yourself from the next person it benefits to know a creative who can make things happen for you. And it’s also great when non-creatives trust their artist or graphic designer to produce high quality services without questioning their time, hard work and the money it takes to make their creative dreams come true.
