We were lucky to catch up with Brittney Robinson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittney , thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
As a new business owner, I believe it takes determination, patience and courage to expand and grow in the beauty industry. Skincare has always been a passion of mine and I love to help others feel good & look even better! However when I started my business, I had zero clients and I wanted to be my own brand. I stepped out on faith and since June of 2022 I’ve grown and kept nearly 100 clients. There was months I thought, “What am I doing here!?” But my passion took over my doubt and I kept going.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well, as a teen I was always the “shy girl” one who stayed to herself “in her own circle.” However, I had a passion for helping others, being that person I could uplift someone and make them feel amazing. I was never into sports or extra curricular activities because of that shy persona so during my free time I would research skincare and how to have healthy skin and ended up helping family and friends with their skin as well. During COVID, I decided to go to Esthetician school and received my license after 9 months and I was also still working my full time job as well. During this time my passion grew even more and I was also on a health kick (COVID weight got the best of me) so I called myself “The Vegan Esthetician” because I wanted to bring all natural products and services for my clients. Fast forward to 2022, I rebranded and now my business is Royal Esthi Bar who specialize in sun damage and hyperpigmentation but treat all skin types and concerns and also Full Body Waxing. I cater to individuals that don’t have the time to get beauty services during the week so I offer after hours for those who have full time jobs and weekend appointments. What sets me apart from other Estheticians is that I care, I want to put the puzzle pieces together instead of listening to you vent about your skin to me. I believe that everyone can have beautiful skin with or without makeup, it will just take time and dedication and I will be there every step of the way. Royal Esthi Bar is a growing spa who provides exceptional quality products and services and no appointment is the same as the next, it’s personable and very relaxing.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson that I had to learn is “scared money, don’t make no money.” I am very much so introverted so branching out on my own without any business knowledge was a huge step for me. I started listening to podcasts & signing up for different programs to grow my knowledge of the business industry and to be able to introduce myself as someone in business. I love to prep for my clients at least an hour before their appointment to give myself a Pep talk as in “You Got this Girl!” But now that has all subsided from the amazing reviews I receive from each client I have serviced.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Being a full time mom & new business owner my schedule sort of got hectic so I started utilizing calendars and reminders more often than normal, take care of home and still work a full time job. It became overwhelming at the beginning but again with determination and passion anything is possible. I stayed headstrong in order to complete the goals that I have as a business owner.
