We were lucky to catch up with Brittney Reed recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brittney , appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
When i first started selling my hair growth oil, I was a hairstylist and part time manager at a local beauty supply store in my hometown. I’ve always had a passion for mixing organic ingredients to grow my own hair. While at work one day I noticed how many of the well known products that the customers used on the shelves contained harsh chemicals, sulfates, alcohol, and many more ingredients that i couldn’t even pronounce. Which was a big red flag. When customers would come in searching for the best products to grow their hair and to keep it healthy, I would direct them to the best hair products in the store that i could find, which was very limited. But, when i would wear my big natural hair out to work they wanted to know exactly which products i was using, (which was my own mixture of organic ingredients.) I never imagined selling it to other people at the time so i decided to just try it out on my close family members and friends hair and they saw crazy fast growth results from using my hair growth oil. They encouraged me to sell it to help others , so i made 10 bottles and waited for the feedback. In less than 2 weeks all 10 people were amazed with the fast results! I then proceeded to make 20 bottles which sold out in one day, again i waited for the feedback and those 30 customers total told their friends, family and coworkers about it and word quickly spread across my small community. I decided to take a risk and make 100 bottles! (Which i thought was enough) but it sold out in just 2 days!!! By then they were all seeing amazing results and the word was getting out to many more people from the surrounding areas and i would literally have customers coming to my job at the beauty supply store asking for my hair growth oil! Because of this my boss took me off the schedule. I now had hundreds of customers and it was still growing rapidly. They wanted me to make every product that they used so i started researching and testing on how to make my own organic hair grease, shampoo, conditioner and etc which is how i ended up with a full hair product line! They also asked if I could ship it to their loved ones who lived out of state. This led me to creating a website for my products. In less than two years I now have over 1,500 customers and counting and, I have even shipped to Greece! My main goal is to spread love and confidence through my amazing all natural products and to help as many people as i can across the world! Although, I’m still in the process of growing all it took was one small risk to get me this far! I encourage everyone to go after their passion and to walk by faith. You never know where it will lead you!

Brittney , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Brittney Reed. Many know me by my nickname which is Britt Nicole. I am from a small town called Senatobia, Mississippi. I am also a single mother of two boys. I have always had a passion for mixing organic ingredients to grow my own hair. I started doing hair in the 10th grade which led me to attend Barber styling school once i completed high school. I then became a local hair stylist in my hometown and a part time manager of a beauty supply store. While working at the beauty supply store I would have several people ask me which products i used on my big natural hair (Which was my own mixture of organic ingredients). After testing it on a few of my close friends and family members hair, they started to see amazing results! I decided to make a few bottles for the public and they all seen crazy fast results as well. This quickly led me to helping many people in my community and now over 1,500 people across the U.S. in less than two years! I also had a passion for modeling. But, later transitioned into working into banking which is what i currently do now while I fund and expand my business. Working in banking gives me great knowledge and also gives me hope. By seeing so many entrepreneurs and business owners thriving! I pray that one day I can become a full time entrepreneur and also help others grow their businesses. I recently moved from my hometown in Mississippi to Houston Texas to expand my business. I want to reach as many people as i can across the world with my amazing all natural products!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think that having honest customer feedback and real customer reviews has helped my business grow alot. Most people are skeptical about trying a new product so having real customer reviews shows potential customers that it’s safe and effective!

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the most important lessons that I’ve had to unlearn is that not everything that you have been taught or experienced growing up should stick with you. It’s okay to break patterns and generational curses that were passed on to you. Once you have grown and you are capable of making your own decisions it’s important to unlearn certain things and habits that don’t benefit you. And focus on growing into the best version of yourself by learning new things that align with who you aim to become. Not only for you but for others connected to you as well. This has really helped me become the person I am today and is still helping me grow daily to become a better mom, business owner, leader, family member, friend & more.
