We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brittney Megann a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brittney, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Meaningful projects, where do I even start? I might be a little biased, but I truly believe that every single project we have worked on at Socials & Stilettos has been meaningful. You might be thinking “How meaningful could working with beauty, fashion, and lifestyle brands really be?”. It’s not always the products that are being sold, but the mission behind the brand that truly makes the projects we work on so meaningful.
Each of our clients have always been so connected to their mission and have allowed us to take a stilettoed step into their world and see how passional they are about what they do and why.
As Toronto’s leading social media, marketing, & PR agency, it has always been our job to dive into the unique qualities of a brand and define what makes them so different. Part of this process includes understanding why they started their brand in the first place. More times than not, there is an amazing story behind what they are doing and multiple layers behind their brand’s mission.
Brittney, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Back in 2015, I was in a serious car accident and completely lost my ability to walk. In hopes of finding something that I could do from home while healing and attending 5-hour long physio/treatment sessions at a time, I stumbled into the world of digital marketing. I am so proud to say that I am fully self-taught and through hours of trial/error and soaking up all of the information I possibly could, I was able to start my own social media marketing agency (Socials & Stilettos).
Over the years, S&S has changed so much. We have gone from being a one-woman show to evolving into a full-service marketing agency that specializes in social media, marketing, branding, and public relations. We have the best of the best when it comes to our team, and really do thrive in collaborating together on projects. Our mission is and will always be to help beauty, fashion, and lifestyle brands elevate their business & build an iconic brand, and really couldn’t be more passionate about what we do.
How did you build your audience on social media?
This is SUCH a juicy question! It’s going to sound cliche, but simply just being “social” on social media. Since day one, we have always focused on fostering real relationships with the person behind each business/brand/account. Through intentional engagement and building friendships with our community online, we have been able to establish a super loyal and engaged following that is always supporting us & cheering us on!
My biggest tip for those who are just starting to establish their social presence is to focus on connecting with accounts that are serving an audience similar to their target audience. Building strategic partnerships with other brands & creators can help you experience rapid growth on any platform, trust me.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Strategic partnerships & PR, hands down. When someone else speaks about your journey, mission, or business, you are receiving an instant boost in credibility & even being positioned as an authority within your space. Things that can normally take years to establish for any business.
Focusing on establishing brand partnerships with other businesses & collaborating in an organic way was one of the first forms of “PR” we did for ourselves here at Socials & Stilettos. If you are a new business with a small budget, this can be a great place to start building your reputation.
