We were lucky to catch up with Brittney Jasmine recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brittney, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I didn’t come from a wealthy family or have a lot of family support when it came to starting my business. It was super hard at first. I always had a vision of what goals I wanted to pursue. I did & still do everything in my power to work towards those goals every day. Sure, some days are harder than others but when you hit a milestone, it’s the best feeling ever. I worked really hard to get to where I am now. To be successful, it takes determination, discipline & a vision.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Brittney Jasmine & I am a First Nations Professional Makeup Artist, ITEC Certified Aesthetician, Lash Technician & Cosmetic Tattoo Artist located in Edmonton, Alberta.
I have 10 years of experience training/working within the Beauty Industry. Opening my own beauty business was always a dream of mine! My first passion was for Makeup Artistry, I then fell in love with other aspects such as Lash Extensions & Cosmetic tattoo!
I take a lot of pride in my work & I only give the best experience to my amazing clients! I have a friendly, relaxed, outgoing & genuine energy that anyone can vibe with! Here at JSMN Cosmetics, we are a no judgement zone & a safe space!
I want all of my clients to have a memorable, magic experience & I will continue to give Top-Shelf service! My goal is to have you leaving my chair feeling confident & like you can take on the world!
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
I started doing Makeup, Lashes & PMU as a side hustle because I had another job in retail at Sephora & needed the extra income. Once I seen how well I was doing with my services I decided to quit my job & go all in! I started my home based business which grew faster than I could keep up! I then moved into a studio space where I am still residing now. I am always fully booked with my wonderful clients so now I am looking to move into my own salon space soon! I kept at it & worked on my skill & quality of my work now I have a really well built clientele which I am so grateful for! I am now starting to offer my own beauty courses & will be opening my own beauty academy to help others get started within the beauty industry!
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source has been social media! Facebook, Instagram, TikTok & also Google is a good one!!
