We were lucky to catch up with Brittney Gardner recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brittney, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
The first time I knew I wanted to pursue a creative artistic career was when I was about seven or eight years old and they had Toonami on at the time on Cartoon Network and at the time they were showing sailor moon, dragon ball Z , cowboy bebop, and Tenchi Muyo I always love how the creator of these stories and the artists get to share their vision of creation with the world and I knew in my spirit I was destined to share my vision with the world too.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I grew up in the small city of Columbus Georgia which unfortunately isn’t a place where one can thrive I wanted to go to an art school at the time they did not have any of those programs I applied at the art school of Atlanta I studied there for two years and ended up becoming a makeup artist I always knew to keep my mind and opinions open because you never know what opportunities can come your way I learned how to dream a new dream when I couldn’t find what I wanted in my career field but I stayed determined and consistent. So I started networking with other makeup artist, clients, photographers, and designers that have helped open up doors whether it was at public events or online networking is definitely key for getting into the whatever industry you’re looking to get in to I started to slow down doing makeup after I had my son and Covid 19 was on the rise I needed to stay home where I created an online business selling custom made stickers, cards, notebooks and pins. I absolutely love being a small business owner I get to share my art with the world all while being at home with my son. I’m proud to made such wonderful relationship with my customers, clients and colleagues over the past two years which is what sets my business apart from the rest its the respect, love, and creative community not money or anything fueled by materialistic motives

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I’m an introvert so at first building an audience online is kind of tricky but I learned to find a community that you feel comfortable talking and express yourself in. For example I love anime and video games I talk to the people in the gaming community we share and discuss ideas with each other slowly but surely my audience was growing another huge tip is to create content that reflects who you truly are don’t buy into the flashy post to make yourself interesting create posts that have an authentic aesthetic that people can naturally gravitate towards.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I think society should create more safe spaces for artist to express themselves but also create more careers for artist so they’re not struggling when they graduate I believe I another great support system for artist would be a motivational support centers for struggling artist that need help to create and providing a healthy therapeutic environment for them
