Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittney Batson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Brittney thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
During my college years, the desire to delve into dance classes and pursue my passion burned within me, yet financial constraints and a demanding schedule as a full-time student and provider for myself held me back. However, I harbored the belief that post-graduation, with a steady income, I could allocate resources to fuel my dancing aspirations. True to my vision, upon relocating to Houston, I discovered my first dance studio and wholeheartedly committed myself. Spending countless hours in classes and practice sessions, I dedicated myself to evolving as a dancer and achieving my goals. Following years of intense training, engaging in choreography, background dancing, team collaboration, and honing my craft, I felt compelled to create an environment that empowers women to embrace their feminine essence through the transformative power of dance. Recognizing the scarcity of opportunities for women to tap into their feminine energy and understand their bodies during the week, I founded “My Heels On” as a safe haven for women to do just that.
I took a bold leap to create a unique dance space for women in the heart of Houston. This venture goes beyond a dance studio; it’s a passionate commitment to fostering a community that celebrates the strength and femininity of every woman. At “My Heels On Dance,” we teach more than dance; we teach empowerment through movement, guiding women through the foundations of heels dance and choreography. The studio is dedicated to the vibrant Houston community, providing a judgment-free space where women can express themselves and build confidence. “My Heels On Dance” is not just about dancing in heels; it’s about embracing a journey of self-discovery, celebrating individuality, and dancing in the direction of dreams.

Running a small, woman-owned business like “My Heels On Dance” has its share of challenges, and one of the most demanding aspects is the necessity for selflessness. There are moments when the weight of responsibility feels particularly heavy, yet the dedication to providing a consistent and high-quality experience for clients and the community takes precedence. The demand for consistency and selflessness is particularly palpable in the service industry, where every interaction contributes to the overall experience for clients. It means setting aside personal concerns and showing up with enthusiasm and dedication, even on days when the weight of the world may be felt personally.
