Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittiney Cousin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brittiney, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Some of the most interesting parts of our journey emerge from areas where we believe something that most people in our industry do not – do you have something like that?
Something I believe that most people in my industry disagree with is the whole “Suite” over salon standard that’s become more popular due to social media and unrealistic influences.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a mother, entrepreneur, professional and business development specialist, educator, and licensed cosmetologist. I got into the beauty industry during the Covid-19 pandemic after noticing that some people were practically begging for beauty services during that time. I had already seen success in my e-commerce hair extensions line KYNDALL KOLLECTION. Therefore, I said “Why not dive deeper?!” I made the decision to enroll into cosmetology school in the summer of 2020. After graduating, I opened EGO Beauty Bar, a full-service Luxury Salon. My goal to be the best minority and woman owned luxury salon in Columbus, Ohio has been met with many barriers. However, our uniqueness has set us apart from many others! Having a good and quality team determined to put customer satisfaction first and maintain a luxe ambiance is our standard. This has greatly attributed to our continued success.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media has become such a tricky place whereas popularity has dominated substance. However, my advice to building and/or maintaining your audience is to analyze WHO your audience is and/or who you’d like your audience to be. This is very important! Also, be creative with your contact and invest in a template source. Lastly, post, post, post! The more you post, the more you’re seen.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What I believe has been most influential in building my reputation within my market is my resilience, skill set(s), community outreach, high standards, and knowledge.
