We were lucky to catch up with Brittanye Blake recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Brittanye thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
I started my business on a random day, I was just sitting around and realized that I could profit off of my writing and social media skills. My first client was a family-friend, she took a chance on me running her social media. Of course, I was still learning and understanding what it even meant to have a business. I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning from scheduling, creating content, and even executing the normal requirements for her industry. Now, almost three years later she is still my client. She has recommended my services to so many people that I have doubled my income from my business.
Brittanye, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My business has grown since my last interview, I have upgraded and outsourced to the point that I changed my business name to match the services I offer. BB Media Services LLC branding, social media management, and writing services to businesses and professionals. Services include content writing for social media, websites, and blogs; social media management, social media strategies for analytics and customer engagement, and content creation. I am proud of my business growth in just two years, it is truly a blessing to be a thriving business owner.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
This is my jam, talking about building social media and engagement. The first thing you must do is post your content. No matter how many likes you get, don’t get, shares, or no shares. My business account audience was built from networking and connecting with others in person and on social media. Also, share other people’s businesses that’s how you make professional connections.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I have gone months without new clients or maybe one or two clients. It is very discouraging when you work hard to market, build your social media, network, and learn new skills. A year ago, I was left with just one client for several months and it was very difficult for me to keep up with overhead now I look back and I am so thankful for the commitment I had to the journey. I stayed committed to the grind and my mission, in due time there was an increase in my clientele times ten. I would encourage any young business owner or professional to remain resilient, disciplined, and dedicated to yourself, your business, and your skills.
