Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittany Womick. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brittany, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I’ve always new that eventually I would become a business owner because that’s what I have always wanted. I have a 4 year degree in Business and Entrepreneurship with a minor of Accounting which I knew would be perfect preparation for myself for my business in the future. I also worked as an Accountant for over 20 years. I am also professionally trained in lashes, ear piercings, waxing, eyebrows, teeth whitening and teeth gems because I knew the beauty industry is where I wanted to be. But it wasn’t until the COVID pandemic did it all come into play because like most people during that time I got laid off. I knew it was the perfect time for me to really focus on my true dream so that I can continue to provide for me and my kids. So the first thing I did was open my LLC for my boutique. “Lashed by Britt Boutique” on 8/5/2020 where I provide many services that include , eyelash extensions, eyebrow waxing/tinting, ear piercings, teeth gems and teeth whitening. I also sale women’s clothing, accessories and small toys for children. I worked out of my home for 2 months before I found my first building and moved in on 10/1/2020. Maybe 3 months after I moved into my Boutique I started making natural skin care products and selling them out of my boutique. It begin to really go crazy so I knew that it needed it’s own LLC “Beautiful Skin by Britt”? which was launched on 7/26/2021. I currently have 26 items on my site. I absolutely love what I do.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a single mother of 5 children which mean everything to me including one autistic child. I am a business owner of 2. I also have a full-time remote Accountant position that I work as well. I think what sets me apart from others is my drive to never give up no matter what . You got to keep going and stay focused. I am super proud of myself because I did it all by myself. No help, no support, no loans and no hand outs just all me and hard work all while raising 5 kids on my own and mourning my Mother whom I loss July 21 of 2017.
I want my readers, clients/potential clients to know that my brand and businesses me everything to me so I take it very serious. Professionalism and customer satisfaction is most important to me. I want my clients to always feel comfortable while receiving my services and satisfied when completed. I want my customers not only to purchase my products but actually love what they are buying so I’m huge on customer feedback. To grow my skin care line or upgrade my boutique I listen to my clients/ customer’s needs to help improve my brand cause customer satisfaction is key to any successful business.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Funding my brand was quite risky because again I had no support, no loans just all my hard work and savings. So I put my entire savings into it and took a huge risk but who better to bet on then myself. And if you never take risk how would you ever know.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building my audience on social media was quite easy because I already had a huge following so I just created business pages on different social sites to get my brand out there. I also made sure I registered my business with google and yelp and of course created my website for each business. And you got to remember to promote yourself constantly. This allows for people to never forget you and also see how important your brand is to you.
