Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittany Wilson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brittany, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I decided to start a small business with the goal of trying to create a better life for my little family, on my own terms. That being said, I live for the simple, comfy & practical as I’m running around 24/7 being a new mom to 2 under 2. I wanted to bring that to life in a shop for everyone who is trying their very best & killing it, but who also wants to do it with comfort & style, just like me.
I’d like to include that I’m a mid-size mama, I know it’s a bit hard to find clothing I like or am comfortable in. I understand what it’s like to struggle with accepting your body, postpartum depression, motherhood, anxiety, dating woes etc. I’d like my shop to make everyone & every BODY feel included.
That being said, I’m committed to creating a shop that is all about self expression in any way that makes you feel confident & empowered. Clothing should not only make you feel good, but should feel good on you. Mombie Inc is about style & comfort, not size. I want you to feel like yourself & be comfortable day in & day out, no matter what you wear – no sacrifice necessary.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Brittany. I am a 33 year old, stay at home – girl mom X 2. I just recently had my second baby girl, now having a 17 month & 1 month old. Born & raised in Las Vegas but Los Angeles is my second home. As Mombie Inc is still new for me, I do work a FT customer service job from home so I am definitely kept on my toes all day, every day – whether it is being a mom, creating content for the shop or working my day job.
I’d like to say that I’m very proud of the fact that I just put myself out there & started this shop. Not only for myself but for my daughters, as I strive to be someone they look up to as a self made, confident, go-getter. If I can do it, anybody can!
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I love to communicate with customers! I am always replying to DMs & comments on social media. I love hearing feedback about products, so I will reach out to people who tag the shop on Instagram & ask how they like their purchase. I like to engage with my followers by taking polls about future product/designs, tee colors they would like to see etc.
I like to feature real life customers on my Instagram. I encourage customers to snap a picture & tag the shop. Real people, who are not posed or photoshopped, wearing my product.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Word of mouth for sure. Of course, social media helps but a customer who loves the product & tells their family/friends about it – always the best & so satisfying!
