We recently connected with Brittany Vu and have shared our conversation below.
Brittany, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We believe kindness is contagious and so we’d love for you to share with us and our audience about the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
I feel incredibly fortunate to have embarked on an amazing journey in the flower industry, surrounded by some truly exceptional individuals. It all began in NYC, where I spent a decade exploring different career paths in fashion and hospitality. Fate had a delightful surprise in store for me when my closest friend needed a helping hand with her first brick and mortar flower shop. Little did I know that this opportunity would ignite a deep passion for floral artistry within me. I’ll forever be grateful to my friend for saving me from waiting tables and leading me to a path I wholeheartedly love.
When the pandemic hit, life took me to Houston, Texas, to be closer to family. I had the pleasure of joining a thriving flower community. The people I met there became more than just friends; they became my support system and the driving force behind my success. Their generosity knew no bounds, offering me their studio spaces and cheering me on as I built my own business and made a name for myself in the city. Not only that, but I also had the incredible opportunity to co-found FLWR HTX, a captivating floral collective, alongside my friends Chad from Flower Power Productions and Lauren from Flora + Fauna. Together, we share a vision and a love for flowers that fuels our creative endeavors.

Brittany, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My love affair with flowers began in an unexpected way. After spending several years in the fashion and hospitality sectors, I had the incredible opportunity to assist my closest friend with her first brick and mortar flower shop. It was during this experience that I discovered my true passion for floral artistry, and I haven’t looked back since.
Today, I am proud to offer a range of products, services, and creative works that are centered around the beauty and transformative power of flowers. As a floral designer, I curate stunning arrangements for various occasions, including weddings, special events, and everyday celebrations. Each design is meticulously crafted to evoke emotions, tell stories, and create unforgettable experiences for my clients and their loved ones.
One of the key problems I strive to solve for my clients is the ability to bring their visions to life through the language of flowers. I work closely with them to understand their unique desires, preferences, and the emotions they wish to convey. By blending my expertise with their personal style, I create bespoke floral arrangements that truly reflect their personalities and leave a lasting impression.
What sets me apart from others in the industry is not only my genuine passion for flowers but also my dedication to building meaningful relationships with my clients. I believe in the power of connection and the importance of understanding their individual stories. This allows me to infuse every creation with a personalized touch, ensuring that it resonates deeply with both the client and the recipient.
Reflecting on my journey, I am most proud of the friendships and partnerships I have forged along the way. Collaborating with like-minded individuals, such as my friends Chad from Flower Power Productions and Lauren from Flora + Fauna, has been instrumental in creating FLWR HTX, a floral collective that embodies our shared vision and love for flowers. Together, we bring a fresh perspective, innovative ideas, and a collaborative spirit to every project we undertake.
For potential clients, followers, and flower fans, I want them to know that my brand is built on a foundation of authenticity, creativity, and a genuine love for what I do. I am committed to delivering exceptional experiences, tailored designs, and heartfelt connections through the language of flowers. Whether you’re seeking a breathtaking wedding bouquet, a unique floral installation, or simply a beautiful arrangement to brighten someone’s day, I am here to turn your vision into reality.

How’d you meet your business partner?
When I first arrived in Houston, I decided to reach out to several florists whose work resonated with me. Out of the many messages I sent, Lauren was one of the few who responded, and from that moment, we instantly clicked. As fate would have it, Chad was also sharing a studio space with her at the time. In a playful manner, Chad jokingly suggested that Lauren should test me out before considering working with me himself. However, it was after my first day freelancing with Lauren that something special happened. Taking the initiative to sweep and take out the trash, I believe I won them over with my dedication and genuine care. Over time, their encouragement led me to embark on my own business venture, and they graciously offered to share their space with me. It was truly a love at first sight moment, and now our connection is unbreakable as we continue this journey together.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been cultivating strong relationships with other vendors and planners within the industry. When I started freelancing, I made a concerted effort to demonstrate exceptional work ethic and genuine care in every project I undertook. Through hard work and dedication, I earned the trust of my colleagues, eventually leading to opportunities where I was entrusted to lead on double header event days. As a result, other floral business owners began referring me to their clients when they were fully booked. Additionally, I made it my goal to consistently exceed my clients’ expectations. While it may be just another day for us, I recognize that these events hold immense significance for my clients, and I infuse that energy into my work. Word of mouth has played a significant role in my success, as satisfied clients have enthusiastically recommended my services to their friends, family, and acquaintances, further expanding my client base.
