We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brittany Veney. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brittany below.
Brittany, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
One of my clients once referred me to a single-mom with aspirations to start her first business. I’ve worked with amazing entrepreneurs of all backgrounds with some of the most inspiring stories, but this prospective business owner moved me beyond words. As a corporate leader, she worked tirelessly after-hours to plan and strategize her brand with me. Her goal was to execute and she did just that. There was a time in the brand building journey that was deemed particularly challenging and she triumphed. The pandemic didn’t stop her, life didn’t deter her and it was evident that nothing would get in her way. She built her brand with perseverance and grace. I looked at her and thought of my own similar journey. It isn’t easy building a brand while juggling motherhood, a 9-to-5, home, and so much more, but it’s worth it and so many of us are doing it!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
As a website designer and brand mentor, I have the pleasure of helping to bring my clients ideas to life. I take pride in creating custom designs that are not just aesthetically pleasing, but that entrepreneurs can leverage. I earned a bachelors degree in law and a masters in public administration, but art and creativity has always been my muse. I had gone to school (getting degrees in areas that weren’t my true passion), gotten married, started a family and worked a 9-5 until becoming a stay-at-home mom. That’s when I realized that it was time to do life differently. I deserved to live life on my terms and now, as a mom-preneur, I’m happy to say that I am. I taught myself website design and immersed myself in studies about brands and branding. It was not always easy, but it was for sure a lot easier than continuing to live a life that didn’t fulfill me. Now, I get to help other entrepreneurs realize what truly fulfills them which is the icing on the cake for me! Majority of my clients are also parents, caregivers, 9-to-5ers and so much more but, they also have ambitions. It’s my job to resourcefully contribute to their dreams behind the scenes as they continue to show up powerfully in their roles. I couldn’t be prouder of that!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Being authentic has helped me build a positive reputation within my market. I believe that authenticity is an integral component of establishing and maintaining meaningful relationships in business. I love sharing my story with fellow entrepreneurs and peers in my industry and learning of theirs as well. Connection is key!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I always say, “You have not because you ask not!” I had to quickly learn to not only ask a lot of questions to educate myself and to grow, but to also gain opportunities that may not have been awarded to me had I chose to stay silent. As a new entrepreneur I was extremely cautious and that didn’t cut it. I had to take risks and just go for it. I’m glad I did because now I know that nothing is off limits to me!
