We were lucky to catch up with Brittany Tomasko recently and have shared our conversation below.

Brittany , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?

My parents from an early age gave me experiences rather than material things. This instilled in me from an early age the love and passion for spending time in the great outdoors and going on adventures. I spent every weekend hiking and biking. My parents taught me independence by sending me to summer camps. My parents also taught me to challenge myself physically and to invite others to join in the fun. How has this impacted me in my life and career? I have the endurance and mental fortitude to challenge myself, to do what I love, and to find new friends and colleagues who enjoy my company.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I currently work as a travel advisor with FORA. My start in the industry began in college as a Recreation Major. Throughout my career, I’ve worked for summer camps, recreation facilities, large special sporting events and now in the active and leisure travel industry. My love for travel began as a child and my passion for exploration has gotten stronger over the years. Recently, I began working in the active travel industry and have since branched off as an independent travel advisor with FORA. As a travel advisor, I sculpt and create perfect vacations for friends, families, and acquaintances. My strength is listening to my clients and leading them through the process while creating magical, memorable experiences.

My specialty in travel is island and coastal travel. Are you looking for that magical experience to Ireland or Iceland. What about finding the perfect tropical vacation to Hawaii, French Polynesia or the Carribean. Are you looking for a family reunion trip or a trip to Disney? My skills and experience also includes Europe, Central and South America, North America and the US National Parks.

I also specialize in cruising. Whether you are looking for a large cruise to Alaska, Europe, the Caribbean, or a small cruise down a European river, I can advise you on the best companies to cruise with. I also am an experienced sailor, and can advise on small or independent boats throughout the world.

Clients would say what I do best is listen to them, I offer great advice and ideas. My personal experience is vast and that allows me to advise on so many experiences around the world.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

Word of mouth is the best way to grow clientele. If you provide the best possible customer service, people will spread the word. I’ve grown my clientele this way.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?

Success in this industry comes with knowledge and a passion for learning. I also work alongside a reputable travel industry leader FORA. They provide their agents resources and tools to help us grow and learn. As an independent travel agent working with FORA, they do the administrative tasks which allows me to focus on. my clients and serve them.
