We recently connected with Brittany Sterling and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, thanks for joining us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
I started photography in 2012, but I didn’t officially go full time with it until recently this year. I 100% wish I would’ve put my all into this before now, because I would be even bigger than I am in this moment. However; I wouldn’t change the process of how I got here because I think it would’ve changed a lot of things if I had.

Brittany, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Brittany Sterling and I’m a single mama to a 5 year old little boy. I am now a full time photographer providing memories that will be cherished and last a lifetime in the form of an image frozen in time. I believe that when a client reaches out to book their session, whatever that may be, they are trusting you with your vision and guidance. I’m most proud of executing that outcome for them. Knowing I’ve accomplished what they wanted makes my heart happy. I’m very assertive and have really good attention to detail and I feel like that sets me apart from the others.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Back in 2018, which was the year of my sons birth, I had to slow down on everything. I wasn’t able to do as much photography. I didn’t pick up a guitar anymore… (I sing and play) I just had to focus on my full time job at a car dealership and worry about how I was going to pay my bills at the end of the month. So I basically had to shift my “passion” to “realistic” and work 8 hour days to get what I needed financially. But had I just taken a chance on faith I would’ve seen that now I can make more than what I made at that 9-5 job and I’m able to make my own hours. It’s truly the best especially being a single mama.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media and I have a love-hate relationship. It’s a never ending battle and I struggle with it daily if I’m being honest. But one thing I’ve learned is word of mouth is key. And having just 2-3 people share your post or comment on it, helps tremendously. I always make it a point to share my posts to my personal page and even send them through messenger to the few people I know will react to it. I do boost my posts from time to time and pay the $5-10 to do so, and it does generate some traffic.
