We were lucky to catch up with Brittany Spraglin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brittany , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
Some of the biggest trends that I see in the beauty industry are eyelash extensions and body waxing! Both of these services are huge money makers in the beauty industry and I believe everyone wants a part of it!
Brittany , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Brittany Spraglin, licensed Esthetician and owner of Beauty By B LLC. I graduated from Brown Aveda Institute in April of 2017, so I have been in the beauty industry for 5.5 years. In the winter of 2015, I fell in love with makeup and the idea of enhancing one’s natural beauty. As I began to research more into that profession, I discovered makeup and skin care went hand and hand with one another, and that’s how I found my way diving into the esthetics industry. After taking a couple of years to truly find what I love to do in this industry, and not loving working for employers, in the fall of 2020 ‘Beauty By B LLC’ was created as I started my journey as a solo Esthetician. I offer skin care services, all lash services, and full body waxing. All thing brows and skin care are my absolute favorite things about this industry. Enhancing someone’s natural beauty with just a simple brow wax or achieving results for skin care clients bring me such joy! I love helping people feel great in the skin that they are in! My ultimate goal is to make my clients to feel like they can unwind and relax anytime they enter my treatment room. My clients know that my treatment room is their safe space, they can receive a skin care service and a therapy session all in one, and leave feeling like a brand new person.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Because I am a service provider, the best way to gain new clients for me is word of mouth! It’s so rewarding when my clients have a great experience in my treatment room and they go out and tell others about me because then those people want to come in and experience a great experience with me also! It also helps that I have a referral program for clients as well.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In January 2021 I had covid so I was out of work for two weeks, I had also been diagnosed with being borderline clinically depressed. Being unable to work due to illness and experiencing a battle with mental health that I never had experienced before truly almost pushed me over the edge. I didn’t care about getting back to work, I was ready to go back to working a waitressing job and giving up on the business. In February of the same year I had a new client reach out to me for a service and she had heard about me from a friend. In that moment, I realized that there was a need for me in the industry and not only the industry, but my community because my business is located in my hometown. Even though I did not see the need for myself, I made myself believe I wasn’t good enough and was not going to be successful, that one client pushed me to make me see otherwise. That new client that booked with me that week saved my life and my business. Because I had felt I worked so hard at my business prior to covid and battling with mental health, I truly felt that if I threw in the towel on my business, I was throwing the towel in on myself also.
