Brittany & Selin, appreciate you joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
Our journey started in the most relatable way: we were both so frustrated with the grip socks on the market. They either lacked style, didn’t hold up in workouts, or just didn’t feel great. And, as true Pilates girlies who spend a lot of time in studios, we knew there had to be something better. So, one day we just looked at each other and said, “Why don’t we create our own?!”
The first thing we did was dive headfirst into research—finding the right manufacturer was super important to us. We wanted someone who shared our commitment to quality and attention to detail. Once we found the perfect partner, we got hands-on with every aspect of the design process. We played around with embroidery ideas, obsessively chose yarn colors, and worked side-by-side with our manufacturer to bring our vision to life.
But it didn’t stop there! We tested our socks on ourselves first—because if they didn’t feel amazing and perform well during our workouts, we knew they wouldn’t be good enough for our customers. We were in and out of Pilates classes, constantly adjusting and perfecting. It was such an exciting process, but when we finally held the perfect pair of Fizi socks in our hands, it was so worth it.
Once we nailed the comfort and grip, we knew we were ready to share Fizi with the world. The whole process took time, passion, and lots of trial and error, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We’re always designing new products each season, inspired by trends and customer feedback, to keep Fizi fresh, exciting, and perfectly suited for every workout!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We’re Brittany and Selin, co-founders of Fizi Active, a Pilates grip sock brand born out of our love for fitness and fashion. After struggling to find stylish, high-quality grip socks, we decided to create our own! Fizi Active is all about delivering premium, functional, and chic socks that elevate your workout experience. Whether you’re in the studio or lounging at home, our socks are designed to keep you feeling confident, comfortable, and stylish.
What sets us apart is our attention to detail and our commitment to sustainability. Every pair of Fizi socks is carefully crafted for ultimate grip and comfort, and for every pair sold, we plant a tree to give back to the planet. We’re proud to be creating a brand that empowers our customers while also supporting a healthier environment. Fizi is about more than just socks—it’s about embracing wellness, style, and sustainability in every step!

How’d you meet your business partner?
We met in university and instantly bonded over our shared love for fashion, healthy living, and all things wellness. From the beginning, we were always bouncing ideas off each other, whether it was about style trends or new fitness routines. We’ve both run our own small businesses individually, so we’ve always had that entrepreneurial spirit in common.
It didn’t take long for us to realize that building a business together was something we both really wanted. We’re both super dedicated and results-driven, so it just made sense! Last year, we decided to combine our creativity and passion to launch Fizi Active, and the rest is history.

We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
At Fizi Active, we primarily sell our products through our own website. We love having full control over our brand experience and customer interactions. Selling directly through our site allows us to showcase the full range of our products, share our story in-depth, and provide a personalized shopping experience. It also gives us the flexibility to run exclusive promotions, manage inventory precisely, and engage directly with our customers through our blog and newsletters.
We’ve chosen not to sell on large platforms like Amazon or Etsy because we want to maintain a strong, direct connection with our customers and ensure that every aspect of their shopping experience reflects our brand’s values. While these platforms offer broad reach and built-in traffic, they also come with higher fees, less control over the customer journey, and the challenge of standing out among many other products. By focusing on our own site, we can create a unique and cohesive brand experience and better manage our customer relationships.
In the future, we might explore other channels to expand our reach, but for now, we’re thrilled with the direct connection our website allows us to build with our community!
