Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittany Reynosa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brittany, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
Videos, videos, videos! I work with several types of businesses. From mom and pop shops to larger corporations. One thing that is on the rise is videography. Potential clients love to see great imagery of a product, but seeing a product in use has a higher selling point.
I’ve been doing videography for brands and products for a few years now and for the last 2 years I’ve been telling people that video is where it’s at! Photography is truly amazing for so many things, but what we are noticing is a lot of people want to see video. Things like TikTok, IG Reels, YouTube shorts, etc have our attention. Not everyone loves it, and I get it. I don’t want to spend my time making reels and tiktoks either. However, studies show 78% of shoppers want to see products brought to life. This is what we specialized in and I love being able to help businesses with this.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started out my photography journey like many others – I dabbled in several areas trying to find what I loved best. I have photographed everything from landscape and weddings to maternity and birth! I’ve loved the journey of it all, but once I started playing with videography, a whole new world opened up for me. I actually started doing videography at births. No one in my area was offering it at the time, so it was a huge hit! I loved it so much (and still do!). A few years ago I asked a fellow photographer if I could film her doing a session – “kind of like a commercial” I said. I had THE BEST time! That was about 7 years ago and I haven’t looked back. I decided to start a second business solely offering brand films. As time went on I noticed a lot of my attention and passion was towards doing that. I added on product photography and then added on product films. When COVID hit and I wasn’t able to spend time with families, shooting products was my bread and butter. At the end of 2020 I rebranded with Brooks & Co. to combine everything together. It was hard making everything cohesive and making sure my audience understood what I offered. That’s when I decided to slowly phase out shooting families, maternity, birth, babies, and put 100% of my attention into branding and product work. In 2021 I rebranded again and officially dropped everything family related and the new website showcased all of the new work! Since then we have added on food photography (which I am looooving!) and venue photography and films!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
My most favorite sessions are working with people that are creatives. They’re getting dirty, admiring their craft, rearranging, adding and taking away, laughing, creating a masterpiece. While photography is great and I love photographing them, there’s just something about filming them. Their eyes, their hands, the way the move, dance, mold clay, etc. It’s the most rewarding thing being allowed into someone’s creative space and film them doing what they do best.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to show everyone a few things…1) how incredible you look when you’re creating and 2) that no matter your business, you can benefit from having great images and videos! I hear a lot of “I don’t think we would need a video” and I respectfully disagree. Videos are great for selling a product, but are also really, really great for helping your target audience to get to know you and/or see the process of your work.
