We recently connected with Brittany Pope and have shared our conversation below.
Brittany , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, what do you think about family businesses? Would you want your children or other family members to one day join your business?
I come from a line of entrepreneurs and people who thrive in imagination of their own careers. I was raised if you want it go get it and that’s just what I’ve done over the years. I believe family businesses are pivotal in this day and time not only for the legacy to be passed but for the never ending support my children already help out in our business and they know the hard work that it takes to be successful.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I felt stuck in being a wife and a mama so I started praying for God to show me something… give me a sign of what I should do next. At 3 am he told me ice cream, I had no clue what that meant but I knew something so I fell back asleep. Those mornings were usually pretty slow for me so I laid in bed just checking apps and such when I clicked onto my Pinterest app. the very first thing that popped up was a mobile ice cream cart (I had never searched that before) and I knew what I heard at 3am was being shown to me. It was wild!!
I knew I loved people and most people love ice cream so here I was with an answer of what to do next and The vintage scoop was born. I wanted to do weddings only at first but boy was I wrong… In a years time I’ve done weddings, birthdays, corporate events, school events, vendor fairs, & everything in between. It’s been a blast!
I strive to stand out from the rest by continuing to use my cart rather than building out a large trailer or truck. My cart fits perfectly into most events without taking away from their “themes”. I stay neutrally colored & classy.
There are so many things I plan on incorporating this year with my little cart so I hope you follow along!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I feel like this may sound cliche but word of mouth is the way I book new events and meet people. Yes social media is there but people talk and they share what they like & don’t like. Thankfully I’ve been rebooked by multiple people & companies over the last year!
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
I believe hustle & determination to not settle go hand in and hand. I knew I wanted to leave my part time job so badly but I didn’t know what it would take but once I launched The vintage scoop it didn’t stop. One booking lead to another and then I had no time to work both so I had to pick one or the other. I jumped head first into building my brand and haven’t looked back.
Key milestones for me was serving hundreds of people in one day… I knew nothing could stop me!
