We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brittany Nicholson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brittany below.
Hi Brittany, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Brittany, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m your Multimedia Homegirl — the one you love to talk to that’s obsessed with all things art, entertainment and pop culture. I have a passion for highlighting underserved voices and overlooked subject matters. My creative services include events hosting/emceeing, interviewing/moderating, event content creation, UGC, and influencer/social media marketing consulting.
My superpowers are my warm, engaging personality and that I ground all of my work in personal connection. I love researching and intentionally tailoring my creatives services to fit you, your event and/or your special moment for a truly unforgettable experience.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Non-creatives might struggle to understand that the creative path is a truly non-traditional, non-linear one that doesn’t have a set structure or playbook. With that said, there’s definitely risk involved in the creative journey. Being a creative means actively being seen trying and being at peace with whichever way the path may lead you. Non-creatives, remember that you don’t have to understand it to support it.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn is that trying different things equates to being lost.
Over time, I’ve realized that trying different things equates to helping you find yourself and your purpose. My creative journey is a good example. At the start of it — I wanted to be a sports anchor .. then a news reporter … then an entertainment journalist … and now I’ve landed on my sweet spot — a multimedia personality!
Trying things is the BEST thing you can do. Start early, the sooner the better. Fail fast and fail often. Your future self will thank you!
