We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brittany Mobley. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brittany below.
Alright, Brittany thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
As a public relations professional and business owner of Culturit Public Relations and Design Co., I’m thrilled to share the story of how my journey began, from the initial idea to the successful launch of my business. It all started with a vision, a passion for communication, and a desire to make a positive impact in the world.
The idea for Culturit Public Relations and Design Co. came to me during my time working in the public relations industry. I noticed a gap in the market for a PR firm that truly understood and celebrated the diverse cultures and perspectives of our global society. This realization sparked a fire within me, and I knew I had to bring this concept to life.
The next day after the idea struck me, I woke up feeling inspired and ready to take action. I began by conducting extensive market research to validate the need for a culturally conscious PR agency. I analyzed industry trends, identified potential target markets, and examined competitors to understand their strengths and weaknesses.
Over the next few weeks, I dedicated countless hours to crafting a comprehensive business plan. This included outlining our unique selling points, defining our target audience, and developing a clear brand identity that resonated with our mission. I also spent time refining our service offerings, ensuring they aligned with our core values and met the needs of our prospective clients.
Once the business plan was in place, I turned my attention to the practical aspects of launching a business. I needed to establish a legal entity, so I consulted with a business attorney to understand the different options and chose the most suitable structure for Culturit Public Relations and Design Co. This involved registering the company, obtaining necessary permits and licenses, and setting up a separate business bank account.
Simultaneously, I began assembling a team of talented professionals who shared my passion for cultural inclusivity and excellence in PR and design. I interviewed potential employees, freelancers, and contractors, ensuring that each person brought a unique skill set and perspective to the table.
The next phase was creating an online presence. I enlisted the help of a web developer and designer to create a visually appealing and user-friendly website that reflected our brand identity. We incorporated engaging content, showcased our portfolio, and implemented search engine optimization strategies to enhance our online visibility.
Marketing and networking played a crucial role in our launch strategy. I reached out to industry influencers, attended relevant events, and actively engaged in social media platforms to raise awareness about Culturit Public Relations and Design Co. I also developed a strategic marketing plan that encompassed various channels such as digital advertising, public speaking engagements, and content marketing to reach our target audience effectively.
Finally, after months of planning, preparation, and hard work, the day of the official launch arrived. We hosted a well-attended launch event where we unveiled our services, shared our vision, and showcased our commitment to cultural inclusivity. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and we immediately began receiving inquiries and securing clients.
The subsequent months were filled with refining our processes, building strong relationships with clients, and continuously learning and adapting in the ever-evolving field of public relations. Each day presented new challenges, but also opportunities for growth and innovation. We consistently invested in professional development, stayed updated on industry trends, and refined our strategies to ensure our clients received the best possible results.
Looking back, the journey from idea to execution was a rollercoaster of emotions, but it was also an incredibly rewarding experience. It required dedication, resilience, and a willingness to step outside of my comfort zone. Through careful planning, diligent research, and a passionate team, we were able to turn a simple idea into a thriving business that celebrates cultural diversity while delivering outstanding results for our clients.
Today, Culturit Public Relations and Design Co. continues to grow and make a positive impact in the world of PR. Our journey is ongoing, and we remain committed to our vision of fostering inclusivity, understanding, and effective communication in all that we do.
Brittany, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Brittany is the leading partner and Public Relations Specialist of Culturit Public Relations + Design Co., formerly known as Bmobley Media Relations. She received her bachelor’s degree from The University of Memphis and her master’s degree in Public Relations from Full Sail University.
Brittany has worked as a public relations practitioner since 2016. She has secured several media placements, including Fox 2, WXYZ, Crain’s Detroit Business, The Michigan Chronicle, and several others.
After being in the industry and struggling to find helpful mentors, and resources and also landing a decent-paying role in the communications industry, she decided to create a small organization to help bridge the gap between entry-level and veteran publicists. Brittany created Young People in PR in 2018. With this organization, she was able to plan events in Detroit, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C. During these events, millennial and entry-level PR pros were able to meet well-known veteran publicists in their city and create relationships that have helped them advance in the industry.
Brittany is a self-taught graphic and web designer with over 12 years of experience using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and JavaScript. Since 2014, Brittany has worked with several corporate companies, that has allowed her to expand her skillset to obtain clients on her own. Her work history includes General Electric, Gift of Life Michigan, Detroit Development Fund, and The Association of Women in Communications, among others.
Brittany currently serves as a liaison between businesses and their visual and strategic messaging for their brands foundation, preparing them to potentially obtain public relations representation. With this expertise, Brittany has been able to lead her business, Culturit PR and Design Co., into a six-figure brand. In addition to Brittany running her business full-time as a publicist and designer, she also works as a media relations specialist at Eastern Michigan University, securing placements to benefit the overall brand of the University.
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Some of the struggles are the reason I’m able to hold on to my go-getter mentality. I’ve been with mentors who had no interest in helping me. Finding my first job was a bit difficult, and being able to secure clients had also been a challenge in the past. However, I decided to keep going and trust myself in the process. With a lot of hard work and diligence, I improved my craft. I had to find avenues that allowed me to make mistakes and learn from there, which included working with mentors, and college professors, obtaining my degree, and a lot of networking.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
As a public relations practitioner at Culturit Public Relations, I’d like to share a story of a significant pivot that I experienced in my career. A few years ago, I was primarily focused on traditional media relations, working closely with print publications and TV networks to secure coverage for our clients. However, with the rapid rise of digital media and the changing landscape of communications, it became clear that we needed to adapt our strategies to stay ahead.
Recognizing this shift, I dove headfirst into learning about the digital realm and emerging communication channels. I attended workshops, online courses, and conferences to enhance my knowledge of social media, content marketing, and influencer relations. I also sought mentorship from industry experts who had successfully navigated the evolving media landscape.
This pivot allowed me to expand our agency’s offerings and provide clients with comprehensive, integrated PR campaigns that embraced both traditional and digital channels. By leveraging social media platforms, engaging influencers, and crafting compelling content, we were able to reach wider audiences and generate impactful results.
The journey was not without its challenges. I had to step out of my comfort zone, adapt to new technologies and strategies, and continually stay updated with the ever-changing digital landscape. However, the rewards were immense. Our clients saw increased brand visibility, stronger audience engagement, and measurable business growth.
This pivot taught me the importance of being adaptable and open to change in the fast-paced world of public relations. It reinforced the value of continuous learning, embracing emerging trends, and finding innovative ways to connect with audiences. Most importantly, it highlighted the power of strategic pivots in driving success and staying relevant in an evolving industry.
At Culturit Public Relations, we understand the significance of pivoting and evolving in business, career, and life. We leverage our expertise, creativity, and adaptability to help our clients navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and achieve their goals.
