Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittany Michelle . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brittany, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Innovation comes in all shapes, sizes and across all industries, so we’d love to hear about something you’ve done that you feel was particularly innovative.
Collaborating on projects like Beyond The Masterpiece, with Atlanta Portrait Artist, S.A.W, enlightened me in my views on the future evolution of artistic books and how sound could be incorporated in many ways. Since then, I’ve worked with people to create unique book blends of technology, art and music. Every time I listen to how people bring their ideas into fruition it opens up another door in my mind.
My most innovative idea so far…is Hooked, a science fiction novel that includes a song for each chapter. Imagine turning the pages of Hooked and scanning a code to pull up the attached music album and art on a digital device. The heart filling art I received from Athina, for my book, gave me feelings of expansion and calmness. The books that I worked on and read in the past few years have seemed to change the trajectory of my life as a writer.
Hooked is a combination of my talents as a recording artist, listener and mental door opening writer. Creating such a beautiful and thoughtful tangible item inspired me to create new books with other musicians, visual artists and writers. The process of creating these books will be different for each individual that I work with. Soon, there will be a great collection of these types of written works.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I work on becoming a better observer as often as possible. Paying attention to my surroundings helps me a lot in the writing industry and in life. I learn and take the time out to process information in an effective way to tell a story that unlocks my mind a bit more and hopefully will spark inspiration in others. I have a deep appreciation for all of my experiences in life and the chances I have to wake up each day to create something new.
I speak frequently with people about life, lessons learned and how they used their mind to push through tough situations. We work together on finding the best art and music to represent their stories and put it inside of a book to create a multi-sensory reading experience. I think a lot about conversations that I have with people. I am most proud of the stories that come up during the process of thoughtful communication.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I spent years as a songwriter and recording artist spending long but needed hours in the studio. When I became a parent, I decided to spend a few years focusing on my writing skills at home while spending a little less time being physically present in the recording studio. During that time period, I learned the importance of mental conditioning and how you could combine certain thoughts to create new ideas.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
There is always more than one way to do a thing.
