We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brittany McMahon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Brittany, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?

In 2021 I left my first “big girl” job in corporate America at a Big 4 Accounting Firm to join a small social media start up here in Dallas. It was my absolute dream job and it honestly sounded too good to be true! It would involve traveling, creating content, being able to be creative full-time, learning from one of the best creators I knew and I just couldn’t wrap my head around the fact this company wanted to hire little old ME! I had maybe 5,000 followers and felt like I had no idea what I was doing in the social media world, but I knew I wanted to learn more. I left my corporate job, my job security, my benefits, my health insurance and 401K and took a chance on my dream job where I was the second employee ever hired. I was so unsure but also absolutely sure at the exact same time? (I’m not entirely sure that even makes sense, but in my head.. it totally does)

At the time it felt like the biggest risk I would ever take but little did I know more were in store and this was just the beginning of my entire life changing! If I would’ve never taken that first job outside of my comfort zone I never would be where I am today- now creating content full time as a BUSINESS OWNER! Someone pinch me!

I am a full time content creator who loves to share all things Dallas! From where to eat and drink to hidden gems, date nights, girls night activities, travel, and so much more!

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

I started making some money off Brittany Rose Blog in 2021 and saved every penny. I think every year I would pick out 3 things to splurge on but everything else went into a savings account. I grew my page alongside my full 9-5 job and saved enough that when the time came, I had enough savings to launch my page full time!

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

Reels! As my videos gain traction and views, I tend to get new followers and that growth attracts brands and businesses to come work with me. :) I also have a great support system of friends and family who are always telling people to follow and work with me!
