Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittany Manney. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Brittany thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success in my field seems to come from a blend of skill, strategy, and heart. Here’s what I think it takes:
1. Mastery of Your Craft
My clients trust me with their appearance, which means top-tier skills in permanent makeup, lash artistry, and beauty techniques are essential. Staying on top of trends and continually investing in education ensures I offer the best services possible.
2. Exceptional Customer Experience
From the moment clients walk in, they feel valued and pampered. I’ve created a calming, luxurious environment (aromatherapy candles, relaxing music, massage chairs) that leaves a lasting impression. Personal touches, like remembering birthdays or favorite playlists, build client loyalty and trust.
3. Genuine Relationships
My approach goes beyond beauty; I empower clients and boost their confidence. Being relatable, approachable, and genuinely caring about my clients’ needs fosters strong, long-term relationships.
4. Marketing & Branding Savvy
I understand the importance of targeting the right audience (e.g., women aged 40–60) and using personalized, aspirational marketing. By educating and inspiring my audience, I build trust and stand out as a thought leader in the industry.
5. Consistency & Reputation
My 5-star reviews, rebooking rate, and client loyalty speak volumes. Consistently delivering high-quality results and making each client feel special ensures they keep returning and spreading the word.
6. Adaptability & Innovation
Whether it’s mentoring others, introducing new services, or improving client experience, my ability to adapt and innovate keeps my business fresh and thriving.
7. Resilience & Passion
As a solo artist and business owner, resilience is key. I’ve built this business from the ground up, and my passion for beauty, creativity, and making people feel amazing drives everything I do.
With my blend of talent, dedication, and care, it’s clear why my business is thriving and continues to grow.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi, I’m Brittany, the proud owner of B Lashed Ink. My journey into the beauty industry began when I decided to leave my corporate job at Ford to pursue my passion for helping others feel confident and beautiful. I’ve always believed in the power of transformation, and in 2020, I turned that belief into reality by launching my own business.
What I Offer
At B Lashed Ink, I specialize in permanent makeup services such as ombre powder brows, microblading, lip blushing, and eyeliner. I also offer lash extensions, lash lifts, and brow lamination. Recently, I’ve expanded to include facials and mentoring programs, empowering others to succeed in this industry. My mission is to simplify my clients’ daily routines so they can “wake up with makeup” and feel effortlessly confident daily.
The Problems I Solve
Many of my clients come to me frustrated with spending time on makeup or struggling with features they wish were fuller, more defined, or perfectly shaped. I solve these problems by creating personalized, lasting solutions that enhance their natural beauty. Whether it’s restoring brows, adding a healthy blush of color to the lips, creating a flawless lash line, or fuller lashes, I aim to take the stress out of beauty routines.
What Sets Me Apart
What sets me apart is the luxury, care, and personalization I bring to every client experience. From a soothing studio atmosphere (think aromatherapy, relaxing music, and even massage chairs) to meticulous attention to detail, I’ve designed every touchpoint to make my clients feel special. I also build deep relationships with my clients by remembering personal details and tailoring services to their unique needs.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m incredibly proud of the trust my clients place in me and the 5-star reviews they’ve shared. Their testimonials remind me daily of the impact I’m making—not just on their appearance but on their confidence and self-esteem.
What I Want You to Know
At B Lashed Ink, it’s more than just beauty—it’s about empowerment. I aim to help you feel confident, stress-free, and ready to take on the world. I want my clients to know they’re in skilled, caring hands, and I’m committed to bringing out their best selves in a way that feels natural and effortless.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my social media audience started with a lot of intention, creativity, and a willingness to offer value before asking for anything in return. When I launched B Lashed Ink, I knew the power of word-of-mouth and social proof, so I focused on creating content that showcased real transformations and genuine client experiences.
In the early days, I offered free services in exchange for posts, tags, and honest reviews. This wasn’t just about getting exposure—it was about building trust and a portfolio of work that people could see and believe in. I also encouraged those clients to refer at least two people who were genuinely interested in my services. This approach helped me create a ripple effect, reaching new audiences quickly without spending anything on ads. I used the Facebook marketplace to find people.
I made sure to document every step of my journey, from behind-the-scenes peeks to showcasing my studio’s relaxing atmosphere. I also provided valuable content—like beauty tips and FAQs—to engage followers beyond promoting services. The goal was to make my page a place where people could learn and be inspired, even if they weren’t ready to book an appointment just yet.
Advice for Building a Social Media Presence
1. Start with Value
Don’t be afraid to offer free work in the beginning. It’s an investment in your reputation and portfolio. Focus on working with people who align with your target audience and are active on social media themselves.
2. Encourage Referrals
Word-of-mouth is powerful. Ask your happy clients to refer a couple of friends in exchange for a small discount or perk. It builds trust faster than any ad ever could.
3. Be Consistent
Show up regularly. Post consistently, share stories, and engage with your followers. Your audience wants to feel like they know you, so let your personality shine.
4. Engage with Your Audience
Respond to comments and messages, ask questions in your captions, and make your followers feel heard. The more engaged you are, the more loyal your audience will become.
5. Show Transformation
Before-and-after photos or videos perform amazingly well. They show the power of your services and make your work relatable and inspiring.
6. Track What Works
Use analytics to understand which posts perform best. Double down on what your audience loves, and don’t be afraid to experiment with new content ideas.
Building an audience takes time and patience, but when you lead with value and authenticity, your community will grow naturally.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Handmade Fans vs. Promade Fans
When I first started doing lashes, I thought handmade fans were the only way to create flawless, professional volume looks. It was drilled into me during training that the artistry and quality of handmade fans set the standard. I spent hours trying to perfect my technique, carefully crafting fans one by one, and I could never do it. Then I discovered promade fans, and my perspective completely shifted. At first, I was skeptical—I thought using premade fans might compromise the quality of my work or somehow make me less of an artist. But once I tried them, I realized how wrong I was. Promade fans brought a new level of consistency and speed to my lash sets, and instead of taking away from my artistry, they enhanced it. With more time to focus on styling and lash placement, my skills improved, and my clients noticed the difference.
The biggest takeaway? Unlearning the idea that “harder is better.” Promades allowed me to deliver high-quality results more efficiently, and that change improved both my work-life balance and my client satisfaction. Sometimes, evolving your process doesn’t mean losing your craft—it means elevating it.
