We were lucky to catch up with Brittany Lanier recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brittany , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken in my life was leaving my corporate job to pursue nails full-time. At the time, I had stability, consistent income, structure, and a clear path, but I also felt unfulfilled. Doing nails started as something I enjoyed on the side, but over time, it became more than just a hobby. I found myself more passionate about it than anything I was doing in my corporate role.
The decision wasn’t easy. Walking away from a guaranteed paycheck to step into something uncertain was honestly scary. There were a lot of “what if” moments: what if I fail, what if I can’t support myself, what if it doesn’t grow the way I hope. But I also knew that if I didn’t take the chance, I would always wonder what could have happened.
So I took the leap. I quit my corporate job and committed to doing nails full-time. In the beginning, it required a lot of discipline, consistency, and faith in myself. I had to build my clientele, improve my skills, and learn how to run my own business all at once.
Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Not only did it push me out of my comfort zone, but it also allowed me to step into something that truly aligns with who I am. It taught me resilience, independence, and confidence in my ability to create my own path. That risk didn’t just change my career; it changed how I see myself and what I believe I’m capable of.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Brittany, and I am a nail artist and the founder of my brand, Loyal Allure Nails, also known as Loyal Allure Nail CO., where I specialize in acrylic nail services, beginner nail education, and creative nail designs. What I do is more than just nails. It is about helping people feel confident, expressive, and comfortable being themselves.
My journey into the nail industry started in a very personal way. I used to get my nails done all the time, and it became something I really loved. During a stressful time in my life while working a corporate job, my nail tech actually suggested that I try doing nails myself as an outlet. At the time, I felt like I did not truly fit in within the corporate environment. I had gone through a lot personally, and even professionally, I often felt misunderstood or overlooked, especially because of my personality and how I expressed myself.
Nails became a huge part of my identity. It was one of the few spaces where I felt like I could fully be me. While I struggled to grow in my corporate role and even faced limitations when it came to opportunities like promotions, I realized that nails gave me a sense of freedom and confidence that I was not experiencing anywhere else.
That is what pushed me to take things further. What started as something I loved turned into a passion, and eventually into my career. I made the decision to step away from corporate and pursue nails full-time, and that completely changed my life.
Today, I provide nail services, beginner nail classes, and creative designs that allow my clients to express themselves. I also focus on teaching beginners because I know what it feels like to start from scratch and need guidance. I want to create a space where people feel supported, capable, and inspired to grow.
What sets me apart is my authenticity and my story. I am not just teaching nails or doing nails; I am creating an experience where people feel seen and confident. I understand what it feels like to not fit into traditional spaces, so I’ve built something where individuality is celebrated. My work is rooted in passion, patience, and real-life experience, not just technique.
What I am most proud of is taking that leap of faith and building something that aligns with who I truly am. I am proud that I turned something that was once just a form of self-expression into a business that now helps others feel empowered. The main thing I want people to know about me and my brand is that this is a safe space to learn, grow, and be yourself. Whether you are coming to get your nails done or learning how to do them, my goal is for you to leave feeling more confident than when you started.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience on social media was not something that came naturally to me at all. In the beginning, social media honestly was not my thing. It wasn’t something I was proud of doing because I felt like a lot of attention online went to people who were not really being themselves or were making a fool of themselves just to go viral. That didn’t align with who I am or what I wanted my brand to represent.
Because of that, I kept things very surface level at first. I would only post pictures of my work, mainly my nail sets, and I stayed behind the scenes. I wasn’t showing my face, my personality, or my thoughts. While that did bring some attention, it didn’t really build a strong connection or community.
Everything started to change when I decided to show up as myself. I began posting more than just my work. I started sharing my thoughts, my personality, and my real experiences. That shift made a huge difference. Not only did my audience grow, but the type of clients I attracted changed as well. I began getting more clients who were genuinely aligned with me, people who appreciated my personality, my honesty, and the things I talk about and enjoy.
That’s when I realized that social media is not just about posting content, it’s about connection. Once I stopped trying to fit into what I thought social media should look like and instead focused on being authentic, everything started to feel more natural and more successful.
My advice to anyone just starting to build their social media presence is to be yourself from the beginning. It might feel uncomfortable at first, especially if you are used to staying behind the scenes, but people connect with real people, not perfection. You don’t have to go viral to be successful. Focus on consistency, showing your personality, and speaking to the audience you actually want to attract. Most importantly, don’t be afraid to grow publicly. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you start. The right people will grow with you, support you, and eventually become your ideal clients.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What really helped me build my reputation within my market was consistency in every area of my business. Consistency is the foundation of your brand, your reputation, and your ability to build and maintain a loyal clientele.
I’ve learned to not only view my business from an owner’s standpoint, but also from the client’s perspective. That shift is important because it helps you understand what clients expect when they book with you, from communication to the overall experience. Being consistent in your policies, your expectations, and the quality of your work builds trust, and trust is what keeps clients coming back.
The organization has also played a huge role. Having a booking system and a site that actually works for you makes everything smoother, not just for you but for your clients as well. It creates a more professional and reliable experience.
Another key factor is truly knowing your client. Understanding who you are serving, what they like, and what they value allows you to create an experience that feels personal and intentional. At the same time, you have to be aware of the environment you’re working in and mindful of anything that could interfere with your business, including personal matters. Being able to separate and manage those things is important when it comes to maintaining professionalism. My reputation has been built on showing up consistently, staying organized, understanding my clients, and holding myself to a certain standard every single time.
