We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brittany Kelly. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brittany below.
Brittany, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
According to my parents, I wanted to be a “star” since I could talk and was drawing at just two years old. I mean, they’re right, even though I don’t remember saying it that young. However, I do remember as early as elementary knowing entertainment was the career I wanted to pursue. Being able visually tell stories for a living is one of the most fascinating things to me. I pray every day God grants me the opportunity to have longevity in creating visual stories too.

Brittany, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Brittany Kelly and I’m from Stone Mountain, Georgia. I got started learning about the industry while training to be an actor. My training in film and theater started at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta. After training there through out grade school I started working as an extra on a very low budget show. I honestly think it never premiered but the experience was fun and I started networking with a few people I met. Throughout the years I worked as an extra very loosely whenever I had a little extra time. I think one of the biggest opportunities I had as a featured extra was working with Michael K. Williams on a show called Hap & Leonard (Sleep In Peace King.) Before we got started with filming the episode he gave a very moving speech that not only motivated us but let me know that I should keep going. He gave advice everyday and was one of the most down to earth actors I’ve ever had the chance to work with. I’ll never forget how great that set was and the moments we captured on camera. Fast forward to 2019 I created a mental health talk show for creatives to have a platform of vulnerability & premiered five solid episodes & will have new episodes in the future. I started learning behind the scenes as a production assistant on low budget projects. I was working for free but was so grateful to even be considered to on someone’s personal project, you know? My first big opportunity was with Vogue. It was a promo for Vogue eyewear and I was beyond nervous! I actually did ok though and I’ve been getting hired ever since, what a blessing! After I started learning BTS I was able to visually create a website series I wrote a year prior. In 2021 I launched my production company Artistick B Productions. With the company I’ll be directing, writing, creating treatments, producing and writing my own parts in projects to show my acting as well. Keep following me, you definitely don’t want to miss what I have coming next.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to continue to create content in a way you haven’t seen before or don’t see often. To be able to let the world see others as well as myself bring a character to life! Also, to write my own parts in stories instead of waiting for someone else to cast me theirs. I’m hoping to sign with an agency while on this journey. I know for a fact that having an agent or manager would help. I’d definitely be a good teammate while continuing to grow in this career. Creating your own opportunities instead of waiting for someone else to give you one to me shows more of your abilities anyway.
What do you find most rewarding about being creative?
For people to want more of the work. Being a creative, you thrive best when people actually like it. It’s even better when they can relate to it but that’s not always the case. However, I always want people to be able to take something away from what I’ve created for them to see.
