We recently connected with Brittany Duncan and have shared our conversation below.
Brittany, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about how you got your first non-friend, non-family client. Paint the picture for us so we can feel the same excitement you felt on that day.
My 1st client that was a friend or a referral from a friend was my 3rd client. They had come to me as a rental lead, they were moving here from Texas because they were PCSing to Carson. They were a family of 6 and struggled to find a rental with enough bedrooms/amenities they would need for the right price, and when they did, approval was also a struggle. I suggested talking to a lender about purchasing a home. They were approved, and we started their search. We toured many homes virtually when they found a home they liked, their offer was accepted. At inspection, the home was found to have too many issues, and the owner was not willing to make the repairs. We terminated and started searching again, within a few days we found a beautiful home, exactly what they wanted, we were in a multiple offer situation and they won (without having the use the usual techniques we were seeing in 2021). They are still in the home today.

Brittany, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started in this industry when my own Realtor told me she thought I would be good at it. I was working as a medical receptionist while I was taking classes. I was pregnant with my youngest, and once COVID hit, we lost our babysitter (she was immunocompromised and couldn’t risk her health), so I quit to be with my oldest. I took my test 2 weeks after giving birth and passed the 1st try. I think what sets me apart is my level of care and access I have for my clients. If my clients have work but they want to see a home, I’ll get in there for them. If my seller is out of town and it snows, I’ll go shovel the drive/walkway. I sit for home appointments to relieve stress on them. Also, I am very patient with my clients. this is one of the largest purchases they will make, and I want to make sure they don’t have any kind of buyer’s remorse for things that should have been seen or fixed before closing.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has been my Sphere of influence and my team lead/broker guidance. I have had to opportunity to help my family and friends purchase and sell their homes, and I love doing it because they know they have someone who understands them and their needs/wants on a different level and they trust I will fight for them to have the best outcome.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I have built my social media following by telling my birth story with my youngest daughter, and since then, I do a mix of Real Estate and personal videos and posts. I plan to make more content and more targeted content to grow further
