We were lucky to catch up with Brittany Dix recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brittany, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on so far is my current poetry book, The Way You Carry, about pregnancy, motherhood, and postpartum healing. It’s not just a book to me—it’s a journey of transformation and strength. This project has helped me grow in ways I never imagined, evolving me as a woman and giving me an incomparable sense of love and resilience.
After giving birth, I struggled with postpartum depression and anxiety. Writing this book became a way to process the pain and confusion I felt, to transform those emotions into something meaningful and healing.
What makes this project even more meaningful is how it connects me to other women. I’ve drawn inspiration from the stories of women who have faced their own struggles with motherhood and emerged stronger. Their resilience has fueled my own, and their courage has reminded me that we’re never truly alone in our pain.
This book is my way of giving back. I want to inspire women who feel like they’re at their breaking point to keep pushing through, to believe that there’s light on the other side of the darkness. I hope my words can be a source of comfort, encouragement, and empowerment, reminding women that their struggles don’t define them—they strengthen them.
Ultimately, The Way You Carry isn’t just about me. It’s about building a community of women who are stronger because of what they’ve been through. Together, we can find healing, hope, and the courage to come back better than ever.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Brittany AKA Cloud, a self-taught artist, writer, educator, and, most importantly, a mother. Creativity has always been at the heart of who I am—it’s how I process the world, tell my story, and connect with others. My journey as an author began after the birth of my daughter, when I published my first book, Solace, in 2023. Writing became my refuge and a way to explore themes of healing, resilience, and self-discovery.
Now, I’m working on my second book, The Way You Carry, a deeply personal poetry collection about pregnancy, motherhood, and postpartum healing. This project is close to my heart because it’s not just my story—it’s a tribute to the strength of women everywhere. I hope to inspire others to find light in their struggles and embrace the power of motherhood.
In addition to writing, I share my creative journey through my art and on TikTok under the name “CloudyCanvas.” My content focuses on blending the art mom niche—balancing creativity and parenting—to show how these roles can beautifully coexist.
Currently, I’m pursuing a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies with the goal of becoming a teacher. Education is something I’m passionate about, and I hope to inspire the next generation to embrace their own creativity and potential. Balancing my roles as an artist, writer, student, and mother isn’t always easy, but it’s a life full of purpose and passion—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
As a creative, my goal is to inspire others to embrace the power of self-expression and explore any artistic outlet that speaks to them. Whether through writing, painting, music, or any other medium, I believe art has the ability to heal, connect, and transform. I want to encourage people to shed their fears of judgment, push past limitations, and create authentically from the heart. True artistry lies in honesty and vulnerability, and I hope my work inspires others to find their voice and share their unique stories with the world.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the incredible sense of freedom it brings. Life can sometimes feel heavy, with its routines, challenges, and expectations, but creating allows me to break free from those constraints. When I’m immersed in my art, I’m not bound by rules or limitations. I can explore, imagine, and express myself without fear. It’s a space where I can be unapologetically true to who I am, and that liberation is deeply fulfilling. Through my work, I aim to share that sense of freedom with others, encouraging them to embrace their creativity and find their own release in the process.
