Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittany Conner. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Brittany thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I believe my entire Real Estate journey has been a calculated risk, however my biggest risk was in the very beginning of my career. I had been a licensed Realtor for about 6 months and closed on around 6 deals by that point. I was still working another 9-5 job trying to maintain my finances while I built up clientele. I had a mentor at the time that was my preferred lender that helped me scale my business. He took me to brunch one Saturday and while we were at brunch, he proceeded to tell me it was time to go all in on my business, meaning it was time to quit my job and be a full-time Real Estate Agent. This was a huge risk for me because I went from having financial stability where I could always depend on guaranteed income coming in every two weeks to only getting paid if I successfully closed a transaction. I was really nervous to take that leap of faith, especially because everyone around me believed it was a premature decision and I wasn’t quite ready to make that leap. However, my mentor told me I had a week to quit my job and it was all the positive reinforcement I needed. I put my two weeks in within 3 days of meeting with him for brunch and within just a few months my business doubled. From that moment on I never looked back and here I am today as a full time Realtor of 6 years.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a licensed Realtor in Ohio and South Carolina. I help buyers, sellers and investors accomplish their goals. I’m a top producer in my market as well as a recipient of the International 30 Under 30 Award. I work with residential and commercial real estate as well as new builds, land purchases/new developments, and relocation anywhere in the world. I operate at a very high level and have a great rapport with others within the industry. I work with on market and off market opportunities to help find properties that best fit my client’s needs. I also offer a great program specific to sellers that is called Realvitalize. With this program, I am able to provide sellers with funds to repair/rehab things within their home to get it market ready without having to come out of pocket, essentially helping them net more on the sale of their home. To be successful within this industry you have to be a problem solver as every transaction looks different and problems will arise. My ability to problem solve is one of the things I pride myself on. The thing I am most proud of is my unwavering commitment to ensure my clients are educated with the process and confident in their decisions as I help them achieve their goals.
Have you ever had to pivot?
My first couple years in real estate were all about expanding my knowledge to become the best agent I could be. I had gotten to a point in my business around my third year where I had 23 pre-approved home buyers during the Spring of one of the toughest real estate markets we have ever seen. I was working 16 hours a day pretty much just showing houses all over and writing contracts. I experienced a lot of success during this time, but I was also running myself into the ground. I made no time for myself, or my personal life and I was struggling with my mental health. I knew I needed to make a change within my business so I could continue to not only be the best agent but my best self. I decided it was time to shift my focus to working with sellers more and more to gain my time back. Over the next year I did activities that would help me produce more sellers as clients. I shifted my focus to increasing my social media presence, I began working with experienced videographers. This has helped me become a recognized name within the real estate world. With that adjustment my business doubled yet again. I gained my time back and I have a healthy work-life balance.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe my integrity is what helped me build my reputation within my market. I pride myself on being transparent with every client and business partner I’ve ever worked with. I put my client’s needs and wants before my own. I make sure to focus on building long term relationships and remaining an active part of my client’s lives before, during and after every transaction.
