We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brittany Bowens. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brittany below.
Brittany, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Since my early years, I have been immersed in a rich tapestry of music and art, which ignited my fervent passion for all things creative. Looking ahead, my ultimate goal is to carve out a sanctuary for artists, whether through establishing a record label or opening a studio, where they can thrive and find support. Although the road may be lined with obstacles, I derive my strength from the remarkable talents of my father and brother, both of whom have been instrumental in shaping my artistic journey. Furthermore, I have dedicated myself to mastering digital drawing techniques, utilizing the Procreate app to unlock new dimensions of creativity.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hey, I’m Brittany Bowens, a 27-year-old Atlanta native with a music business degree from Full Sail University. I was inspired by my family’s love for music and art to pursue my passion. My little brother taught me to use the Procreate app to create my own drawings, logos, and designs. The challenge I faced was to truly understand how to do things independently, come up with different themes to follow, and not give up on a project when things got hard. Things became especially difficult when it came to understanding color theory. I believe what sets me apart is my ability to recognize when to take a break and find inspiration from different sources to enhance my work. Taking breaks and resting my mind allows me to complete my pieces with clarity and focus. I take great pride in the various projects I have undertaken for my classes, including artist management, promotion, and scheduling. In the realm of art, I find fulfillment in creating a stunning blue flower and a majestic black panther throne room for Aquarius.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The lesson I had to unlearn revolves around my previous understanding of social media algorithms. During my schooling, I was taught about the importance of post-timing. It was quite enlightening for me to realize that each social media platform experiences specific high and low periods of audience activity. This newfound knowledge empowers me to strategically schedule my posts or reels for when my audience is most active.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
In my journey as a creative individual, I am devoted to establishing an inclusive and secure environment where artists can freely explore and push boundaries in the realms of music and art. With my deep-rooted passion for music and art, I am fully committed to fostering a supportive and encouraging space that enables fellow artists to thrive and innovate. By prioritizing creativity and collaboration, I aspire to create a nurturing community where artistic expression can flourish and evolve.
