We were lucky to catch up with Brittany Bohannon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Brittany thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Being a massage therapist and the idea of starting a business based on massage services is a part of God’s plan for me. While attending school for massage therapy we were required to take a business course. Within that course, we were to come up with a business name and a formatted business plan. It was that moment when I felt inspired to start a business. I didn’t quite know what, how, or where to begin but I had a dream! That was exciting. After graduating from massage school in 2014 I worked various jobs that introduced me to new realms of the massage world which inspired and excited me more on building my business. Although I was excited there was still some fear because I had no clue what steps I needed to take to even get started. Finally, in 2017, I decided to take action in figuring things out. What helped me take action was learning that God doesn’t deliver you an idea without the necessary route to execute the plan. The only way this business wouldn’t work is if I gave up! As a massage therapist, I look at myself as a healer. Through delivering massage services I’m able to educate the masses on living a healthier life. God has subtle ways of reminding you that you are on the right track if you are aware. What gets me most excited about the idea of my business and its growth is knowing that being a massage therapist is my gift and in working with that gift I get to help others. I think as long as you are helping or serving others in a positive way you are sure to be blessed. I’m just here to change the world one massage at a time.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Brittany Bohannon. I am from East Point, Georgia. I have been a massage therapist for nine years and I am the owner of Atomic Bodywork Mobile Wellness Solutions. It was my initial plan to go to school for massage therapy when I graduated from high school but, I end up going another route. I purchased a massage as a gift for a friend and they allowed me to sit in on the massage session. I was inquisitive and start asking the therapist several questions about how he felt about his massage career. In asking him those questions, it piqued my interest again and I went and enrolled at Sandford Brown College the next week. That was in 2013 and it is now 2022. My company offers chair or table massages for corporate companies and events. From being a therapist for a while, I’ve noticed that people don’t take time to practice self-care, and many people are stressed from their jobs. Providing massage treatments in the workplace is a win/win for both the employee and the employer. For employers, it saves them tons of money and for employees, it prevents repetitive stress injuries while improving focus. Massage at events is always a hit because everyone loves a free massage. What I’m most proud of in building my business is being able to help other people feel better. What I want people to know is that massage should not be looked at as a luxury. Massage is nutrition that is needed routinely. There is no age range for receiving massages!
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I have multiple resources that have impacted my management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosphy. My top resources would be the books how to win friends and influence people, skill with people, think and grow rich, hung by the tongue, the slight edge, the science of self realization. Audios that i listen to are the strangest secret by earl nightgale and anything by john maxwell.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I think pivots are great moments in life. They give you a choice to do or be something different. One pivotal moment in my life is when I decided to release my fears and go all in on building my company. With that bold decision also came more pivots that would take place. The biggest pivot was my mindset! When you are used to playing the role of an employee you get accustomed to taking on the mindset of an employee, but as a business owner, it requires a new way of thinking. Im grateful for the pivots.
