We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brittany Boccher. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brittany below.
Brittany, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I realized at an early age what my purpose was in life and over several years into adulthood I recognized my passion. For as long as I can remember I’ve been the “connector”, notoriously known to help connect people with a resource or service, but it wasn’t until 1o years into being a military spouse that I realized I was deeply passionate about serving and helping connect military spouses with the tools and resources they need to live a more purpose and passion filled life.
That is when I founded Discovering Your Spark, a community and platform of workshops to help military spouses discover the who and why of life and answer two questions, “how do you know when you get there, if you don’t know where you’re going”, and “how do you know what to ask for, if you don’t know what you need.”
Before developing Discovering Your Spark I had lived the challenges of military life and recognized that I too had fallen into the trap of resentment against military life instead of embracing the challenges as opportunities. After a year of self-reflection and transformation I personally grew and realized that I was the only person standing in my way of achieving my why and living a more purpose filled life. That is when I decided to share my discovery with my community because I had already proved to myself that the journey of self-reflection, vision planning, goal planning, use of time management, and mindfulness was key to the success of fulfilling your why!
It’s been six years since the inception of Discovering Your Spark and the program has touched the lives of more than 10,000 military spouses and I’m on a mission to assist as many military spouses as possible on their journey of discovering their spark!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi friends! I’m Brittany, a recovering perfectionist turned self-growthist! I’m a proud wife and mom of two. Raising tiny humans who love Jesus and live with kindness is my most important job. My world was ROCKED (in a good way} when my son was born with Down syndrome and later diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. It was these beautiful challenges that forced me to get out of my own way and start living life with passion and purpose. I quickly realized that I have the power to take a challenge and make it an opportunity and that’s exactly what I’m doing.
I consider myself to be a community connector. I’ve been fortunate to maintain a career, be an active and supportive stay at home/remote work from home parent, an advocate for military families especially those with special needs, and a caregiver to my husband who retired from the Air Force with combat related injuries.
In 2017, I received the honor of being named the Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® and used the opportunity to travel the country investing in military spouses by helping them define their identity and purpose. My passion for helping others reclaim who they are and find new purpose has resulted in the development of the Discovering Your Spark Brand which includes the Find Your Color in a Camouflage World workshop and the new Continuing Your Spark Self Audit workbook.
I’m privileged to be a community leader, entrepreneur, and military community engagement consultant who has been involved in community leadership since 2005. Over the course of my career, I have presented, advised, and shared ideas with community leaders throughout the nation resulting in new laws and legislation passed to support military and veteran families.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Maintaining strong client relationships and fostering brand trust are extremely important to me. I combine personalized communication with timely follow-ups. One effective method is through handwritten notes, which add a personal touch and demonstrate genuine care. By sending personalized postcards or letters, I can express gratitude, share updates, or commemorate special occasions, making clients feel valued and appreciated. Additionally, follow-up emails serve as a practical way to stay connected, providing relevant information, addressing concerns, or seeking feedback. These methods not only reinforce my commitment to their journey but also nurture relationships built on trust and mutual respect. This personalized approach is the foundation of my business model.
Have you ever had to pivot?
One pivotal moment in my business journey occurred when the landscape of in-person workshops drastically shifted, prompting a necessary pivot towards virtual presentations and cohorts. The transition from traditional workshop settings to virtual platforms was a challenge, but it presented an opportunity to reach a broader audience and provide more personalized interactions. By embracing virtual presentations and creating virtual cohorts, I was able to adapt to the changing circumstances while still delivering impactful content and fostering meaningful connections. Additionally, introducing monthly live sessions allowed for real-time engagement with a wider demographic, enabling more individuals to participate in the self-reflection journey. Moreover, by offering one-on-one mentor sessions to those committed to personal growth, I could provide tailored guidance and support to facilitate transformative change in their lives. This pivot not only allowed for greater accessibility and flexibility but also reinforced my commitment to empowering individuals on their journey towards positive transformation.
