We recently connected with Brittany Bauer and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany , thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
My now husband and I were engaged in 2019 and planning our 2020 wedding. As a Project Manager at the time I was using the same tools, systems and processes to plan our 2020 wedding. I had always aspired to be an entrepreneur and have had a big passion for serving others. In 2020 I had decided to take the leap and filed for my LLC and in 2021 after returning to work from maternity leave I quickly realized my career as a Project Manager was not serving me or my family. I was unappreciated and undervalued at my full time employer and that was all it took for me to put in my 2 week notice. At that point I was all in!

Brittany , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a former Project Manager I was career focused and busy! It can take anywhere from 200-500 hours to plan a wedding and career focused couples don’t have the time to research vendors who fit their personalities, read vendor reviews and manage all of the details involved with wedding planning. Brittany Bauer Events applies Project Management methodologies to the wedding planning process to avoid couples from feeling overwhelmed or wasting precious time they do not have. Couples are guided through a multi-phased wedding planning process and are encouraged to take breaks through the planning process to focus on this season of their relationship.

How did you build your audience on social media?
As a business owner it’s important to have a social media presence. Your future clients want to see the person behind the business, they want to know what it is like working with you, who you are and develop trust with you long before signing a contract. To grow your social media you need to be providing content consistently, interacting with other professionals in your industry and adding value! When you show up on social media share a variety of content! There should be a mixture of content type and leading with selling isn’t the way to build your audience on social media; people do not want to be sold to. Post relatable content, education, trending sounds and reels. Then sprinkle in the amongst that what you are selling at that point your audience should know who you are and trust you as an expert in your field.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Referrals have been the best source for acquiring new couples! I love connecting with and nurturing the relationships I have with other wedding professionals. Many of my referrals come from prior couples or other industry professionals who understand the value I bring through the wedding planning process and the day of a wedding. I do not just serve my couples but my peers in the industry; understanding how I can lift them up in their role and make their job easier is a large part of my role as a wedding planner. Because I care so deeply for everyone involved in ensuring a wedding day is not only successful but also fun I receive a large amount of my referrals from professionals in the industry.
