We recently connected with Brittany Angelica and have shared our conversation below.
Brittany, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
There was a lack of information around cannabis and its benefits. I was introduced to CBD/Hemp in 2017, while dealing with severe anxiety and depression. I decided to try it and it helped so much that I wanted more information. I realized there was a real gap in the industry. While finishing beauty school to become an Esthetician, questions started rising around its skincare benefits so as a consumer I went out to find products with CBD/Hemp ingredients. During the time of going to retailers to find these unique products, there was not a lot on the market at the time. For the products that were, as a consumer, those products didn’t give me the information of what I was purchasing and why I should. I found another gap! It made me think, what would be the best way to drive interest about CBD skincare. I started learning to create my own infused products in my kitchen while researching as much as possible about cannabis. From the products I created, I saw great improvement not only in my skin but with my mood. I did this consistently for a year. After I became a licensed Esthetician in 2018, I was excited to find ways to incorporate CBD/Hemp into my spa business I was working on. Then God gave me a vision…why not all CBD/Hemp infused treatments! This would also solve that gap of providing real results that people can see themselves, alongside the education around it’s benefits. Doing it all through a unique spa experience! CannaBSpa is not only catering to skincare services but it’s helping people externally as well with this holistic/natural lifestyle. My goal is to create a brand that can be that change that creates more conversation around its benefits so we can let go of the stigma that society has trained us around cannabis.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
CannaBSpa is an all CBD/Hemp infused spa and the only one in Georgia, also providing great skincare/wellness products. The spa opened in February 2020, founded by Brittany Angelica, with a mission to combine spa services utilizing the best holistic hemp-derived CBD products to improve overall well-being to customers. Hemp derived CBD is all natural and great for all skin types, an antioxidant and helps revitalize aging cells, has anti-inflammatory properties which treat acne, eczema and more and can be used on the face and body. Brittany Angelica has created a different experience with cannabis showing great benefits it offers in skincare treatments while opening up conversation about what CBD/Hemp can do for your overall health. CannaBSpa continues to set the blueprint for cannabis in the spa industry and to educate more people. The spa has reached 2 years in business in Feb 2022 with a proven brand that’s needed on the market alongside having 5+ partners like cbdMD. CannaBSpa has been recognized as 2021 Best of Georgia and Finalist for 2022 World CBD Awards from London, U.K. while being featured on numerous digital platforms, magazines, sponsor/speaker events and podcast interviews.
The goal is to expand in other locations around the world, not just the United States. To give more people a new outlook and understanding on cannabis as CannaBSpa continues to grow.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
When it comes to the industry I’m in, I’ve had to get creative and think outside the box to reach clients. Any type of cannabis marketing is prohibited on most social media platforms as well as payment processors. I learned very fast that this is not going to be a walk in the park. I’ve always been a reserved person but because I believe in my business so much, it’s pushed me to get outside of my comfort zone. While networking and speaking at huge events while I’m full of anxiety, I still had to push myself to build relationships. Being able to go out and share my story with why I started my business and how I’m trying to help others, that really brought attention o my brand because people were able to relate. I’ve been in rooms with people I never would that of and recognized internationally because of it. I’m not only doing what I love when it comes to performing great infused facials and providing education but it grew me into a better entrepreneur because I didn’t let any fear or challenges get in the way.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Partnerships and providing answers to questions people wanted. When I opened my business, the lack of information on CBD skincare was almost impossible to find. So in order to start the business I needed to do my own research because I was bringing something new to the market. I always pride myself to “never stop learning”. After much research, I was able to build relationships with companies in the industry and they have become valuable partnerships that I cherish to this day. Never be afraid to partner with a brand or company to help grow your business. My business wouldn’t be where it is without the help of those relationships. A lot of people underestimate the value of having great business relationships.
