We were lucky to catch up with Brittany Adams recently and have shared our conversation below.

Brittany , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s easy to look at a business or industry as an outsider and assume it’s super profitable – but we’ve seen over and over again in our conversation with folks that most industries have factors that make profitability a challenge. What’s biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?

Lets start with the fact clothing in general is a very demanding, competitive, on-going industry

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

Where should I start? Well, HKK is the acronym for Hustle. Knowledge. Kreate. We started in 2020, where we originally sold lashes/lash mirrors &body shapers. Finally, we resulted to apparel. Now that 202o is no longer here, I can finally say “it was/is not easy” Discipline? lets talk about that one! Being an entrepreneur you deal with every and I mean every emotion there is. Juggling all of my emotions and then having to keep a well balanced life, it for sure has its challenges. HKK is far beyond just clothing now, we are literally a brand. Selling clothing and being a rental provider(vehicles, jet skis, boat, airbnb) is not the easiest. However, the best part is witnessing its growth.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

So, does everyone remember the first stimulus check we received? Welp every bit of that was spent starting HKK from the original logo, the logo changes, the products, the production material, website, etc.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

“People dont care about you” 2021, I think I was at one of the lowest points in my life I think I weighed around 105lbs, skin was so pale, flooded with acne, my son and I had the same size chest lol! I felt like I was starving myself because I couldn’t eat from being so stressed out not to mention I had absolutely no curve on my body LOL! Man! Anyway, simply having someone approach me to even feel like they wanted to have a conversation with me was a huge deal

“Vulnerability is bad”
It can be bad if you dont know how to control it but being vulnerable opens doors to help other people
