We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brittanie Muhammad. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brittanie below.
Brittanie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission is simple. The beauty industry doesn’t have to be intimidating or overwhelming. I use my skills and talent to bridge the gap. Whether you’re a stay at home mom who never gets a chance to ever put makeup or a business professional who needs hair and makeup done for multiple occasions. You’re needs are important and can be met without that feeling of not looking like yourself.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hey! My name is Brittanie and I am the owner of Beauty Struck, LLC. I am a mobile hair stylist and makeup artist. I’ve been in the business going on 11 years in August. I’ve always been one to embrace beauty and love sharing it with my peers. Growing up I never really thought you could make hair and makeup into a successful business because of the environment I was in. Being a hair stylist and makeup artist was not a “serious career”. Thankfully an opportunity came and brought me to Georgia where my vision finally felt like it could come to fruition. I decided to take the leap and start my journey with hair and makeup! After a couple of years of just focusing on hair, I was able to rebrand my business, start my LLC and switch my focus to makeup and hair styling. During the trying times of 2020, I wasn’t sure where my career would take me since the whole world seemed to be flipped upside down, but giving up wasn’t an option. I used the trying times as a sense of awareness and motivation to fill in the gaps. I put myself in the shoes of my clients and what they may need in these times and that’s when I decided to become 100% mobile. That was a huge game changer and I haven’t looked back since. I offer services for any kind of situation where you may need hair and makeup done. Bridal, special events, photoshoots, date night, etc. I’ve also decided to start offering personal shopping for makeup and 1:1 makeup lessons. I’ve found that the beauty of naturally enhancing yourself has been dimmed down and over shined by the glitz and glamour of creatives. Not to dull the art of makeup and the depths you can go with it, but your “average day” makeup application seemed to be out of reach for many. I’ve taken this time in my career to really focus on the client that doesn’t have the time to spend endless hours watching videos to try and learn how to do makeup from someone that has a different face shape, undertone and skill set then they may have. Personalizing the makeup experience for individuals has made a huge impact for me in so many ways. I am thankful to be in a position to where I can boost confidence and see the endless smiles on my clients faces after finally feeling like “themselves” again. I’ve also been able to introduce makeup memberships for business professionals that need hair and makeup services for multiple occasions throughout the year, or for the clients that want to learn multiple looks for events and date nights.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Ooof, this is a good one. Honestly, seeing my clients reaction once they have a chance to look in the mirror. The amount of joy that I get knowing they are happy and blown away by my work is unexplainable. They feel alive again. They feel like themselves again. They feel like they can take on anything. That to me is so incredibly special.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I want to make everyone in the world feel beautiful. Whatever that may be for that specific individual, I want them to feel and embrace that. From your typical everyday look to being all glammed up. I want everyone to know that their version of beautiful is achievable and with the right guidance and tools, they can achieve it themselves.
